I don't even have salt water fish but try to watch every video you put out. They fulfill my saltwater interests. Maybe your new beginner videos you talk about will push me over to start a saltwater tank.

That's a good idea. Some sort of video that says, "So, you are thinking about buying a saltwater fish tank but haven't pulled the plug yet. Here are ten things that might push you over the edge!"

Omg Matthew. I love your videos!! I could just imagine being in California and setting up tanks with you!!!

I’ve watched less than 2 minutes so far and all I see is panic. Chill. If you don’t have time to set up a new tank, don’t. You know yourself rushing never works in this hobby. Once you start the new job and have it down for a few weeks you’ll be less stressed and more focused. Breathe. We know how much you try and cram in and as much as we appreciate that we rather you take your time and make good content, if that means you don’t get us a video every week… so be it. Relax! The cooler will benefit from air travelling in one direction. Front to back or side to side. Changes in direction drastically reduce flow. Same with building computers. We love you, we will be here when things calm down! Enjoy your new challenges and your videos will be better for it. Cheers!

You should feel my stress level today! Not a great morning but I'm starting to settle in! Today is the first day making new videos, so got to get into the rhythm. And yeah, I think I just need to move the chiller outside of the stand. Not a huge project, but for now I guess I'll just leave one of the doors open! Thanks for watching and commenting as always!!! :-)

The tanks look good. You put in a full days work there. The frag tank looks nice. The zoas can be mixed in low as well as higher light. Having your par levels around 80-150 will work well for the Acans and the euphyllia. Love the accent lights. 👌

Congrats on the BRS gig!! Looking forward to continuing the series and getting back into marine aquarium after 21 years. I have a 125-g all-glass was fish only in 1997 and planned to reef, but other priorities (kids, work, life, etc.) took money LOL. I'm a chemical engineer and love how far the community/industry has come with technology and engineering!!

Hi Jeff, and thanks for the support! And congrats on your decision to get back into the hobby! A lot has changed since 1997 as I'm sure you know! It's an exciting time to get into the hobby. So many developments in the last decade make it a really cool place to be right now. Feel free to email me anytime if you have any questions!

The heat in the cabinet will eventually cause a problem. I had a chiller that ran on a tank I had set up in the garage and it worked fine for a while. The chiller started to melt the outlet it was plugged into after a while. The plug was rated for the chiller as well. I would work on a solution and avoid a possible fire or electrical issue from the chiller working overtime.
@MyFirstFishTank3 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, thanks for the personal anecdote. Yeah, I agree with you. I think the only long term fix is to move the chiller out of the cabinet and place it next to stand. For now I'll just keep that one door open until i get around to it. Best not to risk a fire, right!!!!????

Your frag tank don't need to be cycled. As long no fish your coral be fine. Looks nice, I used to used egg create. Only became a algea trap. I use rocks as a more natural frag tank. Very clean tank good luck
@MyFirstFishTank3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, got fish and lots of corals! But, I added already cycled ceramic media so it came pre-cycled basically! You are the second person to mention rocks. I like that idea as my frag racks always just become algae traps!
@bigbowlowrong4694 Жыл бұрын
I have kept piranhas and clown fish are definitely way more vicious (to humans). Mine chomps on my hand hard enough to draw blood if I get too close to his anemone, whereas my piranhas would always hide in the corner of the tank whenever I needed to put my hand in it. Oh well, another good reason to keep my hand out of the reef tank.😆
@Algaewarrior3 жыл бұрын
Great video. You got a lot of work done! Have you thought about making some little Rock structures for underneath the frag rack? It could create a place for the fish to hide and add more biofiltration.

Hi there of Court. You're not the first person to have this concern. I've never had a problem with mine, but I've definitely heard of aggression between Hawke Fish and cleaner shrimp. It must be on a case by case basis but I have not had aggression, but that doesn't mean you won't!
