I like meticulous prep it gives the chance to add 2 stats on every level up as opposed to the atk def ones that only do 1. Feedbackgaming does a video where he tests it. You always get +3 stats on every lvl up and with meticulous prep you can get +5 it's a 50/50 for each logistics and planning. And it only costs 20 army xp so not a huge waste or anything.

This is why you battleplan. You don't need to use it to push, but definitely to spread the frontline evenly initially. The new DLC will make it even better. I don't understand the aversion to battleplanning, especially when you are playing at such a slow pace. You can easily catch the misappropriation of split lines quickly and just ctrl+right click>s>ctrl+left click to redistribute across the split lines from an encirclement or split. Heck half the time I do it on 5 speed in SP without pausing.

iirc it's because frontline ai does a lot of troop shuffling when the line changes size, which can be exploited by a watchful player

battleplans make your troops randomly shuffle though, yes maybe you can catch it sometimes but other times it strat redeploys infantry or even just removes their entrenchment, or sends them to a tile that's already been captured and causes them to throw away all their org attacking it. also when you make encirclements you end up with 50 divisions guarding 3 tiles. anyway for defensive infantry many players do still use field marshall plans, but if you're using offensive units it hurts more than it helps 90% of the time also do you play MP? SP I agree you can do it way more often but the AI is very forgiving
