1. There can be lapses of time in Chronicles and Kings as there are in the book of Judges. 2. Two to six months can be counted as a full year when giving the length of a king's reign. 3. Queens can reign jointly with their sons, making an overlapping reign. 4. Sons can reign jointly with a sick or aging father, or a father actively engaged in military cam-paigns. 5. Sons can be omitted from lists if they left no male descendants. 6. Grandsons can often be counted as sons, and so can sons-in-law. 7. An adopted son can be counted as “begotten" in the line to the throne.
 These 7 examples above should explain and refute a lot of apparent contradictions that people say are in the Bible.

Thanks for looking into this question. What if, instead, it is possible that the Septuagint preserves the correct rendering of “20” and “22” in these passages, and 20 refers to when he was made coruler with his father and 22 refers to when he was sole ruler after his father’s death? The KJV translators consulted the Septuagint and sided with it over the Masoretic text in at least a few places- couldn’t that be possible? The Lord Jesus cited readings from the OT that occasionally sided with the LXX rendering over what we have today in the Masoretic text, too. Such a thing doesn’t invalidate the Word of God or its immutability.

Father, I thank you for giving me a choice. I ask You always to help me choose the truth and not evil ways. Please don't let me take pleasure in another person's pain. Remind me that my job is not to delight in their suffering or in their evil practices but to rejoice in the good decisions that they've made and the truthful decisions that they've made. Help me to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. Amen. O God, almighty and merciful, you heal the broken-hearted, and turn the sadness of the sorrowful to joy. Let your fatherly goodness be upon all whom you have made. Remember in pity all those who are this day destitute, homeless, elderly, infirm, or forgotten. Bless the multitude of your poor. Lift up those who are cast down. Mightily befriend innocent sufferers and sanctify to them the endurance of their wrongs. Cheer with hope all who are discouraged and downcast, and by your heavenly grace preserve from falling those whose poverty tempts them to sin. Though they be troubled on every side, suffer them not to be distressed; though they are perplexed, save them from despair. Grant this, O Lord, for the love of him who for our sakes became poor, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Everyday we are surrounded with the beautiful reminders of your creation God: flowers, trees, animals, people. I pray that you make me work, to use me as a vessel to blossom and spread my gifts to the world, spreading your joy to all that encounter me, just as you did with Jesus Christ. His eternal harvest is one that keeps on giving, and I pray that you help me give all that I can in my time. Amen. Father, I ask you to help me to remember that is not by my will or by my strength or even by any authority that I have, that my life is working. I'm not successful because of anything I've done. I haven't really accomplished anything on my own. Everything I've done, everything I have is because You have favored me and I thank You for that. I praise you every day for Your goodness and Your mercy in my life. Amen. Day 1 Genesis 3: The first sin creates a need. Day 2 Isaiah 52: Salvation prophesied. Day 3 Isaiah 53: The role of the suffering servant. Day 4 Luke 15: Three Stories About God's Love. Day 5 John 3: Jesus explains “born again." Day 6 John 10: The good Shepherd. Day 7 Acts 8: Conversations spread outside the Jewish community. Day 8 Acts 26: Paul Testifies of his conversion before a King. Day 9 Romans 3: God's Provision For Sin. Day 10 Romans 5: Peace with God Day 11 Galatians 3: Salvation unavailable by obeying the law. Day 12 Ephesians 2: New life in Christ Day 13 1 Peter 1: Future rewards of Salvation. Day 14 2 Peter 1: Making your Salvation Sure. The Lord's Prayer (traditional words to the Our Father) Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. ✝️🛐 You, Lord, are the just judge of all the nations. You judged your people Israel for their sins, and you will not do less with the Gentiles. Blessed is that nation whose God is the Lord! But if men forget God and persist down the path to destruction, we know there is a just God in Heaven to whom they must answer. Let us not think that our nation is exempt from your judgments, O Lord, but let us seek real revival that you may bless us and not curse us, as a nation. Hallelujah YAHWEH.

There are five “Johns “ in the New Testament and four “James “ in the New Testament. Many people have common names as they do today . Ahaziah was a very common name. simply they cannot be the same person but two different people. The issue appears to be a contradiction if you assume it’s the same person. That’s all. It’s amazing how people make this out to be a big deal when it’s just a readers error. But enjoy listen to all the possibilities that are out there that explain this. Nice to see people dig in and read Gods word. John 14:21 tells us that if we obey God he will manifest his working power in our lives and we will experience him. Without the Holy Spirit the Bible really is nothing more than a dry history book. So repent of your sins and trust in Jesus alone for your salvation and obey his word and you have the faith that experiences God love and power in your lives. God bless.

This is one of the main reasons if not THE reason that Jesus spoke very little and yet everything and especially in parable form. Everything is known from the very beginning to the very end and people are human, even the authors of the Scriptures and they make mistakes and so too do those who do the translations despite their most meticulous and almost excruciating effort to make things 100% right. All will know at the end just how dedicated those people were. Any discrepancies or errors detract nought from the authenticity of those Scriptures in fact they moreover support their authenticity. One witness may have seen four people present and yet another may have seen seven. Does this mean that their accounts disprove the Word of God? You are correct God is perfect and His Word is perfect and everything which comes from God is good. The Scriptures are not supposed to be science (despite the astonishing account of the formation of a habitable planet in Genesis), history or geography lessons they are a guide to Life in its fulness. Why isn't that enough?

How do we know Athaliah is the daughter of Ahab? I know Ahab's unnamed daughter married Jahorum, but Athaliah is only referred to as daughter of Omri. And then how is Jehoahaz and Ahaziah the same person. I believe these questions lead to believe Ahaziah was an adopted son of Jahorum. Ahaziah is also referred to as a son of Jehoshaphat as well (2 Chronicles 2:9). I am left to wonder if Ahaziah was the biological son of Athaliah and Jehoshaphat, and the adopted son of Jahorum. With obviously much missing information.

2Kings 8, "begin to reign" & "began to reign" & "and he reigned" all three of these statments come from the single Hebrew word "Malak". Now Malak, depending on the context of the verse could either mean H4427 (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Dictionaries of the Greek and Hebrew Testaments) H4427 מָלַךְ malak (maw-lak') v. 1. to reign. 2. (inceptively) to ascend the throne. 3. (causatively) to induct into royalty. 4. (hence, by implication) to take counsel. Thus at age 22 Ahaziah began to "take counsel" and NOT when he began to reign. There is no error. Peace:)

According to several sources, Ahaziah died 1 year after he began rule. Therefore it would not be possible for him to have ruled twice. Also, the Bible only mentions his beginning reign after the death of his father, and does not say he reigned a SECOND year. more likely this is a copyist error rather than him ruling twice.

This conversation is more about the flawed nature of the Masoretic text than it is the Bible. The Peshita, which is the Syriac version of the Old Testament written at the same time as the Masoretic text, says 22. The LXX also has 22 in some manuscripts.

The fault of the KJV is that it uses the Masoretic Text as the source for its Old Testament. The Masoretes were Jews who hated the fact that the Septuagint supported the revelation of Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ. The Masoretes didn't begin editing their version of the Old Testament until the 6th century AD. The Septuagint gives different information in the passages in question. Get rid of the corrupt Masoretic Text to get rid of the confusion.

You contradicted yourself in this video by saying that Athaliah is the daughter of Ahab and the granddaughter of Omri. No where in the KJV Bible does it say that. The KJV refers to Athaliah as the “daughter” of Omri which then makes her the sister of Ahab not his daughter.
@TruthMercyBaptist
@TruthMercyBaptist Жыл бұрын
I didn't contradict myself. The KJV actually calls her both the daughter of Omri AND the daughter of Ahab (son of Omri). You'll find her listed as Ahab's daughter in 2 Chron. 21:6. And of course, she IS both, because a granddaughter is a kind of daughter, so she is correctly called Omri's daughter even though Ahab was her father. Oh, and the KJV translators listed "grand daughter" as an alternate translation at 2 Kings 8:26.

@@TruthMercyBaptist no actually I didn’t disagree, I just pointed out your inconsistencies. For the record, I am KJV fan and I only read KJV. However, you are adding to the scriptures. 2 Chronicles 21:6 does not say Athaliah, you are assuming that it is referring to her. Jehoram had multiple wives (2 Chronicles 21:14,17) so don’t assume the “daughter of Ahab” is referring to Athaliah. There are zero scriptures in the Bible that say Athaliah is Ahab and Jezebel’s daughter which many people say. However, whenever she is mentioned, she is always referred to as the daughter of Omri. Not grand daughter, 2 Kings 8:26 says what it says, I don’t care about what “alternate” translation someone offers. Stick to the scriptures and not your opinion that’s the problem with people today when it comes to rightly dividing the word of truth. Too many if ands and buts.

@@Chris.A.H I am sticking to the scriptures. And a grand daughter is a kind of daughter. This is basic stuff. And the KJV translators aren't just "someone." @Chris.A.H
@Chris.A.H Жыл бұрын
@@TruthMercyBaptist I accept their translation just as it was translated. And no where in the KJV Bible (their translation) does it even say the word “granddaughter”. Not once. So what are you referring to!? Stick to what is written. There is not even an indication or a notion in the KJV that Athaliah is the granddaughter of Omri nor an indication of any kind that she’s Ahabs daughter. You just can’t soundly back it up. You can only assume which isn’t good enough. If we stick to what is written, then she is his sister according to the word. I understand what you mean by saying daughter can mean granddaughter, but if you had strong biblical evidence to prove it, your case would be made. But you don’t. Same way Maacah is referred to as Absaloms daughter but then in another scripture she’s referred to as the daughter of U’riel of Gibeah. We then read that Absalom only had 1 daughter which is Tamar. So by matching scripture with scripture we can safely assume that Maacah is not directly Absaloms daughter but potentially his granddaughter or in his lineage which is why she’s referred to as his daughter. That’s solid biblical reasoning. Not what you’re saying. Respectfully.

@@TruthMercyBaptist there are no extant manuscripts that are fully in agreement with each other. There are variants that include a multitude of errors, of which included errors WITHIN ALL TEXTUAL traditions. However you define choose to define the textual lineage of the KJV (which, i am familiar with many of them), you ultimately end up with manuscripts that do not agree without errors. Erasmus, Jerome, Beza, Stephanus etc... they were all well aware of the textual difficulties with scripture and discussed and documented them freely. David Norton, James White, and Schrivner have all done exhaustive work on not only the manuscript history behind the KJV- including the annotated Bishop's text that the KJV translators worked from together.

@@TruthMercyBaptist extrapdronary claims require extraordinary proof. I did not make the assertion- against all evidence and common sense- that the kjv is entirely devoid of any copyist errors. The KJV Controversy by James White A Supplement to the Authorized English Version of the New Testament: Being a Critical Illustration of its More Difficult Passages from the Syriac, Latin, and Earlier English Versions, with an Introduction By FH Scrivner A Textual History of the King James Bible By David Norton Those 3 works should get you started.
