Omg, I thought I was alone in thinking this in frustration. Seriously, even the kid stuff. Kids get abused alot in our human world that's serious, thats enough. Why invent the spirit cooking crap? And why a secret illuminati allow so many utubers to tell on them? And why do celebritysingers work so many concerts when they are part of it? Thats a terrible secret society that does magic but just cant make you rich, just.like.that, with no working or needing to have fans. And the people they say are part of that seem like bad choices to begin with. This is so refreshing. All group of americans have their own silos of conspiracy and certain theories overlap, its hilariously sad.
@nordicmind825 ай бұрын
That also makes people conspiracy theorists apparently. Questioning that while burning jet fuel (fuding hot!) can mess with a building (fair enough) it can Not harm the passports of the highjackers, but that they neatly fly out of the planes and buildings down and land on the side walk (!) so they can be handed in to NYPD makes you conspiracy nut-job. Shit like that is why people were all like ’Wth? Really? This is what the gov is officially selling?’ and noped out of more than reasonable. The US Congress 9/11 Commission (The National Commission on terrorist attacks upon the united states) report (Jan 26 2004) makes an almost snide remark about this absurd, yet official, claim in the official reports. Yes, the planes came smashing into the buildings. Everything else can only be shrugged about in a ’Hey, given the US gov at that time, and how they handled the aftermath, anything is effing possible’.

Lots of people believe the whole human race descended from two people and Moses literally walked on the floor of the split Red Sea during the Exodus. Humans aren't inherently intelligent or rational beings, those skills must be practiced and even then we remain fallible. I believe what we refer to now as conspiracy theories is the process of rationalization and mythologisation that all human societies have engaged in. Of course, now there is a broader societal consensus that this process of theorycrafting and sourcing from anecdotes is harmful, and thus a higher emphasis on verifiable information(forensics, geology, etc) and academic rigor through peer review. Sorry for the spiel, your comment just touched on a thought I've had for a while.

So this theory swaps the roles of light and dark. Darkness is the absence of light, but if light is “sucking up the dark” then that would make light the absence of dark, meaning darkness is a thing that can be generated, like light. If that makes sense.

I'm reading Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson's Illuminatus! trilogy right now. It's genuinely killing me to see how much of the modern conspiracy theories about the Illuminati can be traced directly back to a trashy pulp novel from the 70s filled with gratuitous sex scenes written by two Playboy editors tripping balls on acid who went "You know all those weird letters we get from John Birch Society cranks talking about conspiracies? What if ALL OF THEM WERE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME? ESPECIALLY the ones that contradict each other!" Between this and "adrenochrome" coming from Hunter S. Thompson inventing a drug to fuck with people who didn't know better in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, I'm starting to think QAnon is literally just a group of people with the worst media literacy the world's ever known unknowingly enrolled in a book club conducted through a game of telephone.

My favorite conspiracy theory is “Birds aren’t Real” page because it’s so silly. Conspiracy theories are also extra popular when we are so inundated with information that’s often overwhelming or beyond our level of understanding, so our brain has these “theories” to fall back on for a definite answer. Especially as information literacy/critical thinking seemingly decay. For a nonfiction rec, How To Talk To A Science Denier by Lee McIntyre covers a flat earther convention, how doubt spreads, and how to debunk fake theories. It’s honestly one of my favorite books. @kylie_h19786 ай бұрын
While there was certainly talk about Buzz wanting to be first, the way that the LM was designed and the inward opening hatch meant that the CMR had to exit the LM first with the hatch then being closed and the LMP moving across to the CMR's position, reopening the hatch, and then exiting. This was reversed getting back in, with the LMP entering the LM first, closing the hatch so that he could move across into his position, before once more opening the hatch for the CMR to enter. This is why the CMRs were always the first to exit and the last to leave the surface in all six landings. There was apparently some discussion of whether Aldrin and Armstong could swap places inside the LM after landing, but it was determined that with the EVA suits on this could cause damage to the spacecraft. That seems to have been a good call considering that merely during the exit or return of Aldrin, he managed to clip the circuit breaker button for opening the ascent engine valves, and broke it off. Meaning that when it came time to activate the ascent engine, he had to use a pencil to close the circuit breaker and open the valves.

My dad used to mess with me, I’m 30 and he’s 78, when I was a kid he would talk about his childhood like “back when things were still black and white” cuz all the movies and tv shows he showed me were black and white. I FULLY believed the world was black and white.

Some of these theories read like someone tried to write a sci-fi novel and no one wanted to read it, so they turned it into a conspiracy theory instead just to feel like someone cares about their stories.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people call something a “conspiracy theory” when there is literally no conspiring going on at all, it’s just a theory that someone has. no one is conspiring anything, you just think something is not what people say it is.
@melofy-vibes6 ай бұрын
The reason they call it that is to make a difference between those and science. You might think it doesn't matter, but so many young children are being brainwashed by these, and it's not just someone having "a theory" when they're trying to make money off of it and manipulate others😑

Like?
@yldan.6 ай бұрын
I think it's referring to how the theorists believe that the government or whoever else is conspiring against them.
@dorongrossman-naples92076 ай бұрын
I think the "conspiracy" is a reference to the supposed cover-up. For instance, a flat earther would claim there's a conspiracy to make people think the earth is round.

@ville__ Its a Mental Disorder, a Paraphilia with negative effect on the Psyche of one. It has to be treated factual and serious. Pedophilia in its core is not "bad", correct. It is burdensome and difficult, it is a Mental Problem that needs Support (Not to be allowed to do Illegal things, but to be treated to learn to not fall for your Intrusive Thoughts or whatever.). Abuse is the Bad thing, that can caused by Pedophilia, but isn't the core of it. So yeah, in some way you are correct. It is not bad, because Pedophilia doesn't mean you do anything Illegal. But you formulated it otherwise, with some very harmful things. No, it shouldn't be normalized in the way you most likely mean. It should get awareness but not be condoned. Age may be "just" a Number, but IT IS ALSO a state of maturity. And since we cannot look individually how mature one is, we can only base laws for consent on an overall age. You are most likely a bot or rage bait, but I am writing this as an answer before anyone else is being crazy and confirms this comment. As I said, it should be treated factual, so I do.
