Thanks for this. Those are actually SMPTE colour bars that displayed on TV screens at the end of transmission, which never ends these days 😂

Patreon needed to rebrand. They have a similar reputation to Hollywood studios in the 50s. No one wants to be branded as some sort of deviant and cast into the wilderness. Creators saw that a "celebration of human creativity in all its forms" might suddenly and without warning not include them in any of their forms. But creators in the 2020s have other places to ply their wares, and they did. Sure, the morphing logo, etc, look cool, but will they really help?

While it truly is a very open, innovative and creator centered move from a marketing and design standpoint (and as a designer I do appreciate that), it does not however delete their past and I still wouldn't trust them as my platform after they deplatformed Sargon of Akkad and a bunch of other creators - especially not just for the fact that it was done but more so for the HOW. How sudden, dirty, unwarranted and unjustified it actually was.
