The best part of Patrice's act was when he would stop his bit mid-sentence regardless of what he was talking about, point to someone in the audience out of frame and go, "Look at this guy" and then just proceed to grind the person's life into a fine powder and blow it in their face to nothing but laughter from everyone in the room. patrice point is a bit of target for me in this one... women do suffer, he points that out all the time, hence his quote "can you ladys please blame God for all your problems...". but what he missed to say is this "women CAN be funny, but they will hardly go through the trial by fire a guy goes through". to make a comparison. I grew up with a lot of music / artists kinda people in the true alternative meaning, not grunch, not depechmode... german drill and bass music, japanese clicks and cuts, english /american indietronic. etc. I noticed at an earlly age, that most women NEED to feel safe and hardly trully take a risk. because every music moment that was growing out there, there were 100 and 5 cute girls and 10 ugly ones. that happened every concert i went, and the cute ones were always the girlfriend of some dude, which mean she didnt necesarily means she was into that music, she was into his artistic side. I took me years to admit this... i gave to all the women in my life years and years to prove me wrong, I went out as boyfriend with ugly smart girls, bysexuals, artistic girls, girls that had nothing to do with music, fat girls, pretty girls, skinny club girls with big tits... and the only common issue is that they were girls, they gave me trouble for the exact same reasons with different attitud and i never realized it when i was young, i was a fool (and i still kinda am). I CARED too much for them that i became dull. but Patrice put the nail on it all.

There are female comics who started funny, on sketch shows (Poehler, Silverman, etc.) but decidedly weren't funny as "celebrities" during the cable TV gold rush.
