In the past I did not like the red eyes on the bunnies. But I recently picked up a California/Dutch cross and she is gorgeous. White with gray on the nose, ears and gray stripes on the feet and, yes, red eyes. She is so sweet and lovely. Great combo!

Bobby, my name is Johnny. I have been raising rabbits for a couple of years now. I also have chicken in the same barn . I feed chickens laying pellets and cracked corn. I feed my rabbits rabbit pellets and cracked corn. Rabbits love cracked corn. I have rabbits in a free run pen as chickens, but are in separate pens. My problem is rats have invaded all my pens as corn is free choice. I have found out that hot pepper flakes will keep the rats out of the chicken feed but not hurt the chickens,but will help worm the chickens. My question is will the pepper hurt the rabbits. Sure would love to talk with you, so yes to the pod cast. Thanks Johnny.

Sorry to here about the infestation-Good question rabbits will sneeze from just a little dust in the hay but that's a good idea maybe it would work. I'd recommend reaching out to a pest control to ask if they have a non-pesticide that would work for rat eradication. Best of luck!

Research "Dr. Weston Price". Also "Deep Nutrition" by Dr Catherine Shannahan. Also "A New Path" by Arthur Haines. I cured lifelong allergies to poultry and legumes using the information in texts like those. Also "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon. Allergies are mostly due to compromised gut microbiomes, not genetic disorders. IE epigenetic, and healing can often be achieved. Best.

Thanks 😊 for the great video Bobby! Maybe you can help. 🤔 I have a young buck who goes through spells where he eats very little or nothing at all. No signs of diarrhea. I know rabbits are good at hiding health issues. This last time around he hasn’t eaten anything in about 3 days. He lays in normal positions, not bunched up in pain. I’m at a loss and debating whether to bother keeping him. He’s nice enough (Rex) but nothing outstanding. Thoughts?

If you’re not happy with your rabbit in anyway I would sell or replace it - rabbits are pretty healthy in general but they’re not all the same I want all my rabbits to be cage door stalkers when I bring food and water out I want them active and productive keep the best of the best and sell or process the rest - you’ll be happy you did. Best of luck.

Do the rabbits mess with the insulation in the kindling box?
@TheRabbitryCenter

Thanks for asking from time to time to meet you in a little bit, but they don't eat it. The insulation ring will remain around the outside, forming a pretty good seal. They usually last of the five years before needing a new seal.

I asked this before with no answer I have Calico rabbits and I’m trying to set the breed! How rare are calico rabbits, and is it worth trying to do this?
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one. If you’re having fun then it’s worth it but if you’re trying to make money than you may need to advertise and see if they sell. Trial and error. If you’re showing your rabbits on a social media platform and you’re not getting any bites that may be an indicator. Have you been to a rabbit show in your area? I’d find out what rabbits are getting shown the most. I’d also get on craigslist and see what’s selling. Be sure to record what calls and requests you’re getting - this will give you a better idea of what rabbits will sell. Try contacting a harlequin breeder and asking for some advice have you joined a Rabbit Facebook group yet great place to ask questions about different breed rabbits. But at the end of the day if that’s the rabbit you wanna work with then it’s up to you. you should be sure to choose a rabbit breed your passionate about.

@TheRabbitryCenter 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing In most cases my rabbits never see the bottom of the nesting box. They have a good layer of shavings and straw but on the hot days they really benefit from ventilation I’ve noticed they will move out of the nesting box and lay on the cage floor bottom to cool off. But winter is a different story.

I just started with bunnies and was worried, too, about the pressure of the wire on their feet. In my neck of the woods we can get really hot so, to help with both issues, I put a ceramic tile in the hutch with the bunnies. It helps to keep them cooler during the hottest part of our Texas days and gives them a place to get off of the wire!
