There’s not really anything to make it NOT make sense though. At least not yet. We know it takes place after Kid Buu but before Super, there’s not much that happens in those 4 years anyway to make the rest of the timeline not cohesive, and since this is a project directly from Toriyama, it’s totally plausible to be the main timeline

Trunks was born in age 766 according to the Chozenshu timeline. To be turning 9, the year would have to 775. We also know that Trunks is 8 during the Boo arc, and the earliest date in the Boo arc for the Chozenshu timeline is March 28 of 774. This is when Gohan enrolled in high school. This means Daima episode 1 takes place sometime between January 1, 775, and March 28, 775. Chozenshu also says Future Trunks warns Goku about androids in August of 764. Future Trunks says he will be born 2.5 years from then. 2.5 years from August would actually be February of Age 767. This would have him born 3 months before the androids arrived and contradict the Chozenshu dates. Now Future Trunks could just be a year younger than Present Trunks, but I think the intention is for them be the same, so Future Trunks must've meant 1.5 years from then he will be born. Since February fits well for both Trunks birth dates, I'm gonna place Daima in February of Age 775. Going back to the Chozenshuu timeline, we know Yamucha wished for people killed at the World Tournament to be revived in May 7. 774. Goku then stops them and Dende says in DBZ chapter 270 that they can use the other wishes later and the balls will only be stone for 4 months. This means Septemrber 7, is when they'd become usable again, and that's the date Chozenshu used to say the memories of Majin Boo were erased. Since they were we already stone for 4 months, the dragon balls would be stone for at least 8 months, or until May 7, 775. So this further cements that Daima takes place within the first few months of age 775.

That'd make the most sense actually! Still leaves plenty of room for however long Daima will last throughout Age 775 before we even get into things like the Yo Son Goku Special and eventually Super.

Personally I think they defused because the wish turned them 5 years old and shin and kibito weren’t fused then so I think it’s a get around them being fused in super. I bet the z warriors will eventually wish for everyone to be back to normal and that will cause shin and kibito to fuse once again

That's a good idea, but we unfortunately see the two of them defused in the very first episode of Daima before the wish is made, the one that turns them into kids. But the idea that they'll refuse at the end of the series might still be the case!

only reason daima exists is cause super isn't getting the numbers that they wanted. They probably think that goku being an adult makes it harder for most kids to resonate with him, most shounen MCs are teens and they all get crazy numbers.

This period of the series is a bit more confusing than it needs to be, but once you see how it all fits, it makes sense. It goes: Defeat of Kid Buu then a year later Daima takes place. 3 years after Daima is Battle of Gods / the start of Dragon Ball Super, and then End of Z is 10 years after the defeat of Kid Buu.
