Another piece of evidence that supports the theory OMORI takes place between 1996 and 2000-2001 is the Hooligans bomber jacket for sale on OMOCAT’s store, which says the Hooligans have been around since “20XX”. Not only does it somewhat confirm OMORI takes place between 1996 and 2000/1, but it also tells us the Hooligans only became a thing a year or less before the events of the game in the real world.

Well, if we take on account that one of the pictures was taken on Sunny's 12th birthday (I may be wrong I haven't finished the game yet) and the game takes place four years after that then sunny would be 16 or maybe 17 when the game takes place, and if this theory is correct then sunny would be 39 or maybe even 40 by this year

i’ve already watched this video but for some reason i forgot about the 1996 thing. a couple days ago, i was replaying omori and looking through the photo album. i was assuming omocat didn’t just come up with the dates and probably based it off a real year. i knew it was the 90s and i saw 1996 worked perfectly and got really excited. but i could’ve just looked at the omori wiki and i would’ve been good lol. it did feel cool to find it myself honestly

oh no definitely not japan. the majority of the people in japan from what i can tell are indigenous and dont follow christianity. only a small portion are foreigners. i bring this up because a lot of the characters in omori can look very, _very_ different from each other (many people headcanon hero and kel to be of hispanic descent because of this), and the town has a catholic church built there. of course there's the possibility that faraway town happens to be both WHILE also being located in japan, but the names of people and places are anything but japanese I personally believe it takes place somewhere in california, since it reminds me a lot of the place i used to grow up in, BUT also because the weather in the calendar artwork is comparable to that of some place northern california, and they seem to be close to a beach that the main cast would visit during summer.

Yea- lemme give u a breif runthrough The game is amazing. My biggest advice is go in as blind as possible, it feels amazing. The combat isnt groundbreaking but works well with the game. There is so much content in the game- i have 50 hours so far and I feel like i have barely scratched the surface. The artstyle is also cute asf and the music is amazing. The game itself took me 20ish hours to play. I would 100% play it, but be warned while it looks cute and fun (and dont get me wrong it is) it is also a psychological horror and it has dark and disturbing content Omori is one of my favorite games- i would 100% recommend!

Yeah true, but also the game takes place four years after the death of Mari (which Aubrey states when you first meet her in the real world), which would take us to October of 1999. And taking into account how the weather pretty much seemed sunny all 3 days and kids seemed to not be in school, that implies the game takes place during the summer (if I remember correctly, some kids were even doing summer work for school which Sunny could help them with as a side quest). So, at the very earliest the game could take place in the summer of 1999, or possibly 2000 cause that would make it four years and a few months after Mari's death.

MY DUDES listen up. The vault behind the ACTUAL MOLE in orange oasis is 7201969. Which can be read as 7/20/1969 Sunny was born in 1969, he turned 12 in basil's album, he was a hikikomori for 4 years after that. So he is 16 years old in the game >1969+15 = 1984 Therefore, Omori takes place in the 80's.
