What I miss in this video is what it does in Auto mode. I think it then opens in S and closes in D, but I've never checked that. The sound does increase significantly in S though.

My 2021 RS5 sounds a lot different when driving in S compared to D. When i have the exhaust open it wont crackle or pop a lot until i put it in S then its a beast lol

Audis always start up with closed flaps no matter what drive mode you started up your car. Even if you have set the engine sound to dynamic in Individual you need to cycle through back to Individual in order to come into effect. So every time I start up my 2018 RS3 I first select comfort and then cycle through to individual to open the flaps.

I drive only in dynamic.Putting the tyranny in s mode does the same thing with rpm and throttle response regardless of drive select. Disconnect the exhaust valve controls entirely and let the thing howl the way it wants to

I'm pretty sure vac and boost will effect the cut outs as well. It would effect efficiency at part throttle if so

i had those exact thoughts on my 2018 S3.. i figured it out. If my car is shut down in Dynamic mode, it starts back up in Dynamic mode. but without the engine stuff, which is "D/S". The flaps also open on my car around 3200 rpms in most modes, unless im in S and they are fully open.

Very interesting that valve should be one button ,great if Ur a nerd , If it's something to do with driving quietly , I buy a car I don't want part of exhaust blocked off ,it cool car though

No. It will close at certain lower rpms even in dynamic.

Good, but in driving, there is a lot of changes, in Dynamic sometimes 2 flaps are opened, sometimes 1 is opened, 1 is closed, etc. Try to film this video.

I cant get my valve to open and its not stuck its spring loaded shut

If I remember correctly this was a common issues with the rS5 , these flaps jam up and might require servicing. ☹️😃

Nice video. Have a 2021 RS5. Even at idle the right hand side flap (as viewed from behind car) is closed, the left hand is open. With car switched off , both are open . Odd ,!

I would be honest, I didn’t even think of that. Was it just the vacuum line that you unplugged?

@@thedevthing there is an actual plug back on the mufflers. Unclio/unplug after confirm that valves are open. Cover the connector and zip tie off to the side… done..
