I believe like in this case there should be a wellness check when they get a notice from suspect where he has threatened harm to himself, but these guys are not prepared and shouldn’t be the lead in these type of investigations. They make the situation worse as seen in this video. The suspect could have let them walk all over his rights but the way they came into his home escalated the situation from the second they walked through the door. I believe this guy was a military vet and ex police so he knew a lot of their procedures even though he was ill. It’s crazy that he might have gotten sick or injured from his service. That’s a shame because he seems very smart. These cops should have handled him with a little more respect. They came in very hot and with prejudice when he absolutely did not show any sign of a threat. I don’t like their lingo in the way they handled him. I’ve seen videos where they’ve given way more patience then was deserved to other suspects. It’s a rediculously huge difference.
@trorisk2 ай бұрын
I've already said it in other videos but I'll say it again. We need separate “police forces” that do not encroach on each other. At least 3 different forces. -Police officers who accompany health professionals or social workers. As they will encounter drug addicts, alcoholics and people with mental disorders they should be trained in de-escalation (with negotiation training) and in submission with minimal or no harm (with judo and jujitsu). -“Police officers” drawn from the community for 2 or 4 years and only deal with minor offenses. Who help children and elderly people cross the road. Most of the police job they don't do anymore. There is no need for firearms to do these activities, a taser and a baton are enough. -And a police force against real crimes. They should not be authorized to carry out roadside checks (insurance, DUI, etc.) or ask ppl for ID. They should only interact under the warrant of a judge or if called (if there is a shooting or a robbery for example). These 3 “police” functions require different training and human qualities. It is totally idiotic to think that police officers could perform these 3 different functions well.

This has to stop and by losing Qualified Immunity may just make these armed thugs go by the law and no they're version
@thecanningexperience28882 ай бұрын
Another of the 1000's of examples of why qualified immunity needs to end. When you can become a cop with just six weeks training, and they no longer have to undergo any type of mental evaluation to get the job......you have armed thugs roaming the streets with a badge and a gun. Most citizens can learn more about the law and citizens rights in an afternoon that these so called police officers learn during training. The way qualified immunity works is the cops says " Well I didn't Know I was violating his rights" and he gets a pass......the City still has to pay off the lawsuit, but the cop gets no penalty either from breaking the law or by having to pay the lawsuit. Before qualified immunity was put in place, cops were much better trained in the law and were much less likely to arrest or detain someone unless they had a clear reason to do so. Now they throw you in cuffs just to talk to you and call it officer safety.

Awesome content and great video. I've seen this case a few times in the last couple years. I'm not going to point out everything I've noticed but at times you say comments like "they forced entry into his home" which is just not true. Everyone should know their rights and only be held accountable for what they do. That being said, they need to get the hell out of that mans house, trespassing the moment he said to leave and they didn't!

These kinds of lawsuits need to be done to keep police in line with communication and The Constitution. Cops just can't stand being told "no, I have Constitutional rights".
