The guys I worked next to actually had a dog returned after the guy got in trouble for the dogs behavoir. The retired service member who adopted the dog as a mobility assistance animal (opening doors, bracing to stand, ect.) turned the dog into a house pet and taught it all kinds of bad habits and over feed it. It’s frustrating how many people can’t tell the difference between a service animal and an emotional support animal. Service animals are TRAINED to perform a task for their owner. The person could be blind, diabetic, epileptic and having a service animal present can help them treat the issue BEFORE it starts instead of getting treatment afterwards which can cause tragic results in the long run. Emotional support animals are just pets that a person wants around them all the time. They behave like pets because they are pets. I’ve never witnessed a service dog poop in a department store but I’ve seen several emotional support animals do it.

The one part that entitled people aren't playing up is the fact that it really is incredibly uncomfortable in the back of a squad car. Found out not too long ago when I worked for a DPS department, and some patrol officers gave me a ride over to where I'd be patrolling on foot for the night. It was only a few blocks away from our station, and that ride couldn't have ended sooner. It's uncomfortable even if you aren't in handcuffs I can only imagine how much worse it is having your hands behind your back and having to drive for 20 or 30 minutes instead of the probably 3 minutes that I was stuffed in there. Probably took me another 3 minutes to wedge myself out of the car when we got to my location for the nights shift. This isn't sympathy for the woman. Her comment about it hurting to sit back there just brought back that memory for me.

I can't stand it when ppl butt into other ppl's business asking if they are disabled or if their dog is really a service dog etc...they have no right to do that ever!! I had a women question me right when I pulled into a disabled parking space. I was getting my handicap placard to hang on my rear view mirror (you are not supposed to drive with it hanging). Before I could hang it a woman knocked on the window of my car. I rolled my window down a little and she tells me I can't park in the handicap spot without a handicap license plate. I told her I just pulled into the spot and was getting my handicap placard to hang when she knocked on my window. She said I had to have a handicap license plate. I told her the placard I have was given to me from the dmv. There's an option to get a plate but as long as I have the placard I am parking legally. She argued and said I bet you aren't even disabled. Your just lazy. I said ma'am if you do not get away from my car I'm calling the police. She said she is going into the store to notify management. She hit the hood of my car really hard as she walked away. I put up my placard. I have multiple sclerosis but that's none of her business. I'm getting ready to get out of my car and the same woman comes out of Walgreens with a manager. The manager told her the same thing. My handicap placard is legal for me to park in the handicap spot. She kept arguing and I told the manager I've had enough harassment I'm calling the police. When the police arrived I told them what happened. The manager confirmed what I said was true. The police told the woman I am parked legally and its none of her business and to leave me alone or she would go to jail. She laughed started insulting the police officer saying they dont know the handicap laws. The officer warned her again saying this is the last time he would tell her to leave. I told the officer she hit my car really hard with a closed fist when she went in the store to get a nanager. She told the officer she wanted his supervisor and that I had to have a handicap license plate. The officer told her no I didn't need a license plate that a handicap placard is the same. She continued to argue. In the end she got a ticket, I filed a report and the officer followed her out of the parking lot!! This was an older woman by the way!! Completely ridiculous!!

I am VERY passionate about this subject. Why, I don't know, I just am. If you approach someone and you want to know if they are a service animal (if they don't have their gear on) you are only allowed to ask TWO questions, if you REALLY feel the need to. 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Not only are there laws in place to protect people with disabilities involving service animals, but they are LITERALLY considered 'medical equipment.' That woman should have been charged with more because she could have caused the man serious medical injury if the dog had been distracted from a task/alert. I have recently been working with dogs and their behaviors. Service animals go through rigorous training to get to where they are to perform the duties that they do. I don't believe for a SECOND that dog jumped on her. If it had though, I agree with the cop. The woman had gotten way too close to the man, and the dog was protecting him; there is a task where service dogs 'block,' but it's just to go between the owner and another individual to create space and a barrier so the owner feels safer. Another reason why the dog could have 'jumped' is from the excitement the woman was causing and putting stress on the animal. Dogs really react to our emotions and if the owner was feeling stress from the situation, the dog may not have known what to do and 'jumped' on her to push her back for space. I get really heated about this because I feel it is WAY past the time that people should be ignorant of service animals and what their duties are. Please educate yourself. Read up on the laws, watch content creators that have service animals, and stop being an idiot.

She's lying through her dentures. Why? It is simply not physically possible. She said the dog jumped her. That presupposes that dog and man were facing her. She then says she turned around and kicked his ass. This is impossible since dog and man, according to her own words, were still facing her in order for the dog to jump her, but a dog can't jump on a person backwards.

I don’t even think you’ve got the right to ask the questions from a manners perspective-if you have a problem with the person or their animal, then go to the police or contact the disability society or the store or the area that you are in.just like saying to a blind person do you really need that stick ?! or someone in the wheelchair- Why don’t you get up and walk? Are you genuinely disabled? Nobody’s business, but there’s unless they are getting a privilege from that illegally or somehow taking away your rights in which case go through the proper channel in both cases.
@Mystress1980 Жыл бұрын
If you're not in a position to remove the person, then your right to ask is non-existent. The most anyone should be doing is getting a store employee. Unless the service animal is genuinely misbehaving (which is good indicator that they're not actually a service animal), then people need to mind their own business. It's like the people who question someone in a disability parking spot, and have a placard, but don't "look disabled".

The sad thing is that early onset of dementia or micro strokes often go unnoticed by family members, but can cause shifts in personality, including increased combativeness and decreased impulse control. The aggression of many elderly folks are affected by those physical changes to their neurology. It's very sad to see someone disappear like that before they themselves pass away.

Are you talking about the first lady? The one that said she had two past felonies? Yeah lovely grandma she probably was.

@@lobsters12111 I was not saying people suffering from these conditions were lovely. How did you read that into my post? And having prior felonies in no way undermines my speculation. It could mean she's suffered from the age illnesses I mentioned for a while. I mean, she could just be a rancid person, I didn't say that I knew if she had any of these medical conditions, I just pointed out that a lot of older people do go through personality changes which can be debilitating and make them a danger to others and themselves.

Or this could just be a good example of what happens to aging malignant narcissists. Their impulsiveness gets the better of them more and more frequently, and the behaviour that used to be reserved for family and home starts playing out in public, too.

To any survivors wondering what happens to the abusive narcissists when all their victims escape: the first lady is exactly what happens.

The placement in this video was very nice and very respectful to the lady. I noticed in a lot of these videos the policemen are very kind, unless it's time not to be kind

I'm thankful that I've never had any issues with my service dog. No one has ever had a problem with him in any store, restaurants, etc. That lady is nuts.

When I worked for a grocery store, we usually had a group of service dog trainers that would come in earlier in the morning while we were quiet so they could train. We never had a problem with it and they were some of the most respectful people I’d ever met.
