I LOVED this movie. I watched it twice so far, and I’m sure I’ll watch it again. The scene with Sabrina eating the child’s brain while walking down the street, the dog attack, and then the murder of Mirta at the end with the hammer, while the little girl smiles, are shocking. Such a well done movie.

Those were the most fucked up scenes. I agree its good but you might need therapy if you are on the third watch 😂

I watched this late last night and it’s still sticking with me. When the girl was standing next to the dog, when Sabrina jumped off the balcony with her son, and when Mirta was left alone with those kids, my heart sank. The ending just gutted me. The dude just wanted to save his family the whole movie. Whatever evil existed almost toyed with him the whole movie and made him slowly watch everything get ripped away one-by-one, and in the end left him alive to deal with it. I love that the same director in Terrified used jump scares in the most effective way possible, but in this movie, it gave you the slow reveal. It let you know what was happening, and then showed you.

Top notch horror movie, absolutely one of my favorites instantly. It's a catch 22 in the horror genre, we want more movies like this one but only get left with a bunch of garbage from Hollywood, but at the same time when a movie like this comes along in a sea of garbage, it's impact is just amplified.

I just wish it went into more detail about what the cleansing ritual was. But can appreciate the film was not about that.
@jacobwolf4410 ай бұрын
The film mentioned something interesting but also quite eerie, in that the possessions began happening more frequently after God lost all purpose on earth because no one believed in him any more. Even as an Atheist this creeped me out but perhaps the cleansing ritual is a way to remove someone's soul so that they can no longer be used as a host for evil, but I'd also like to know more on the ritual.

So few horror movies can manage gory brutality in service of the plot , and not the other way around. This movie however pulls it off. Saw this in theaters and was having outbursts. Genuinely an unforgettable film for better or worse 😂

The second half of this movie was a massive disappointment. They turned the whole thing, every last trace of uncanny, disturbing possible outcomes into a trope infused circus. But of course normies find it sooo terrifying... It is not.

I honestly think Pedro was influenced by the demon the whole movie. He touched his own rottened clothes while taking them off, done many stupid things that honestly could just be the demon influencing him to spread it to his kids and Sabrina. Like, he could of called and told what was going on instead of just showing up without notice, OR, change his clothes at home before heading to Sabrina's.

This movie gives me "the last apprentice" vibes. For those who dont know the last apprentice was a book series in a world where there are people called spooks. People who were the 7th born trained to handle the supernatural. Ive only read the first 2 books so i could be wrong or things develop further but a spook never actively kills the supernatural. They will write sigils to ward off spirits, they use silver powder or salt to prevent witches or demons to enter homes, using silver chains to lasso said beings as it burns them to the touch. They even work alongside masons who custom make like slabs or coffins to entrap supernatural beings.

Yeah this movie is horrible in a good way lol. Spanish-language Mother of Tears with the level of evil gore. All I can say is that main protagonist loves his son but he clearly can get over bad things happening to his ex wife's other kids lmao. Oh my goodness gracious. Edit - wait you're telling me the little boy in pajamas was his kid, too? I have to watch that again because he seemed to take the loss of that kid pretty well in stride lol.

2 of my all time favorite horror movies are Hereditary and Martrys, both of which contain very heavy shit but have nothing on this. I swear this movie is criminally slept on and deserves all the praise that Talk to me, imo, undeservingly received. Ive seen people say the excess and lingering gorey shots were only there for shock valve but i have to disagree. Was it alot, yeah but it broke the horror norms and themes and did it very well. Instant classic for me.

Martyrs is great (the original, cause the remake is a POS as most are). Hereditary though... (Aside from the REACTION of the brother when he decapitates the sister)is crap.
@Oxcymoron9 ай бұрын
@@sideskroll agreed, when I recommend it I'm always sure to mention that it's a foreign film just in case. But as for hereditary, I didn't really appreciate it until my second viewing, there's tons hidden in that film. But it isn't for everyone, just like midsommar wasnt for me. Everyone raved about that movie too but, other than the cliff scene, I couldn't get into it at all. Both film by the same person but won't resonate the same.
