Hey brother, don’t waste your money on a ballast/igniter. Just upgrade the headlights to LED. They’re brighter than HIDs and the beam pattern is almost identical. Return the bulbs and and cancel the order for the ballast. Also to answer your question, definitely go with the black housings headlights!

Got so tired of my HIDs burning out on my is300, i deleted the ballast and ran led bulbs h11... if i remembered correctly. Just connected the power from the harness from what used to go to the ballast to the leds. Positive to Positive and negative to negative. Lights work like oem. 👍🏼

I was unhappy with headlight performance on my car. The issue was burnt silver parabole inside projector. I bought LED modules and rebuilt the headlight from scratch. A bit more work, a bit illegal where I live, but the result was good visibility at night.

I use that brand HID bulb in 3 of my cars and they are great. I also had a bad ballast and I did what you did swapping a known good bulb to diag. Only problem is the bad ballast took the known good bulb with it too. 🤣

I had the same issue with my HID ( same side), when I start I word have switched the ligh switch on and off and it came on. As for the blubs I went LED for all my Blubs.
