Be sure to think about Flat and Level. Most garages have a several inch drop over 20', and many change pitch in the driveway. So, not only is your vehicle angled, but it's lower when it's backed up than when parked 3' from the wall. I haven't found anything nearby that I would consider level over the 40-ish feet needed to back up and do this correctly. Most parking lots are sloped for runoff.
@glasshalfempty198410 ай бұрын
It probably doesn't matter if it's a slope though. What would matter is if there's a bump and it's not flat. So it has to be flat but it doesn't have to be level. Because if it's flat and a slope you're beams are going to travel straight towards that wall. I'm trying to think it through my head right now and I think that's right.
@markwestcott341410 ай бұрын
@@glasshalfempty1984 Take that to it's logical conclusion and imagine how high up the wall the hotspots would if the slope was 60* or 90*...

Own a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500HD SLE Crewcab and replace the original lens with new ones. Took my truck to the dealership to have the lens realigned. I was told to bring it back, if I had a problem seeing when driving at night. I still was having trouble seeing at night, but I didn't take it back. After doing some exhausted research, I decided to buy your lights. Received and installed your 9005/HB3 and 9006/HB4 LEDs that I love. The lighting was still out of alignment. The video you produced on aiming and aligning your headlights was very informative and helpful. After marking off the garage door, I should see how far off my headlights were. I corrected both lens with the adjustment points on the lens. Thanks to video, I can safely drive at night with no fear of seeing things on the roadway too late.

Thank you. This was very helpful. Honestly, it feels like at least 20% of new vehicles on the road are poorly aimed straight from the factory. 2017-2019 Toyota Corollas always seem to blind me with their factory LED headlights. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm in a taller SUV or my Miata. Thank god the IIHS added headlight testing to their safety rating a few years ago. Hopefully the offending manufacturers will take the safety of oncoming drivers seriously. Honda seems to do the best job of making new vehicles with well-aimed headlights.

Great video. I recently replaced my headlight housings, as my old ones were very milky and cloudy, and cleaning really didn’t improve light output. Well once I installed the new one the light output was much greater, but I noticed my beam was aimed too low to the street limiting my light output distance greatly. Once I adjusted them following you method, it made such a world of a difference with road visibility. I barely have to cut on my high beams unless I’m on a really dark country road. Your instructions were very clear and concise.
@gazooba692 жыл бұрын
My new Toyota Corolla headlights were just honestly aimed too low. I felt that I wouldn’t be able to see an incoming deer or person on the highway that was further than 500 feet away. I decided to raise the headlights. Did it a little too much at first but then backed it down and am at a happy medium where I can see and there doesn’t seem to be many people being blinded by me either. Sometimes I think factory lights are just too low

Very good informational video! I installed LED’s in my 2019 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4, V6, WT, that only comes with reflector type headlights, I knew enough about headlights and aiming them along with light patterns to know I needed something special to do so. In my research I found just the thing I’m surprised you never mentioned. The brand I found out about at the time over 2 years ago was MORIMOTO TWO STROKE 2.0, H11 for low, that I will explain because their the ones you always have on, so you need to be able to aim correctly and control the illumination reflected out and down the road, so you don’t blind oncoming drivers. See they are designed so once you get them mounted without their sockets, you can still twist them so the led elements on the opposing sides are facing side to side! Then once you are all done you must re-aim them correctly. In the time since I have never been flashed, even when I tow my 27’ travel trailer! But the improvement in illumination of the roadway is absolutely amazing!! Especially with both high and low beams on!

Thanks for the video, helped me aim my lights after I leveled my truck. They had to come down quite a bit. I'm surprised you mentioned some LEDs work well as halogen replacements.. I was always under the impression LEDs, just like HIDs, require a projector rather than a reflector housing to be used correctly. Installing them in reflector type housings that halogens are found in usually create a ton of glare with no distinct cutoff. Interested in your thoughts on this...

What we are forgetting here is the mismatch between vehicles. No amount of adjustment in a truck is going to prevent blinding me in my Ford Focus, and since every other vehicle on the road is a pickup OR SUV, and presents a danger to ME, why should I have to worry about the after market (cheap) LEDs in MY Focus having a bad beam pattern? Obviously, I will NOT be blinding the truck or SUV driver! So, what's the BIG DEAL?

I even had someone stand in front of both types of lights, and even he said that the LEDs I have installed are easier on the eyes and even the brights are not blinding in any way. The color temp of the LEDs are 8000k, but so far they have proven to be better in every way over the BLINDING white LEDs.

Stop using the standard 2" & 4" drop, these elevations change according to light height. States have min and max projection distances for the low beam. generally 135' minimum and 200' maximum. If you use the 2" drop @ 25' on headlights that are 42" you'll projected the beam @ 520' and not the state maximum. STOP BLINDING OTHER DRIVERS . 42" height @ 25' should be 5.25". Use the formula (42/200)x25=5.25" below center line. ( bulb centerline / light projection feet ) x the distance you are projecting it to ( test wall, test board or other ) it could be anywhere from 10 feet to 50 feet. Fog lights have a maximum of 135' projection, so get those adjusted correctly too.

LED bulbs get a bad reputation because most people don't do the research to figure out what bulbs are good and how to aim them. Most bulbs on the market are trash, and this channel is a great place to find out what works. Personally, as an affordable option, I really like my $40 Hikari bulbs in my Mazda 3. The chips mimic the placement and size of the original halogen filament, and they're much brighter. Beam pattern is just like the OEM halogen. I verified they were aimed correctly and after a month's worth of night time driving, not one driver has flashed me.

What about 4x4 drivers, their headlights are practically in line with a car drivers eyes. I think the main problem is, most people, that includes mechanics who work in garages, they don’t know how to adjust headlights correctly. That’s why there’s so many cars on the road with badly adjusted headlights.

is it possible to buy LED bulbs that are "tto bright"? even if they are aligne properly?
@HeadlightRevolution4 жыл бұрын
In our opinion, no. As long as it produces a good beam pattern that won't blind oncoming traffic, the brighter the better.

All the lifted ford's and super duties need to see this and not to mention the newer escalades with the straight up and down lights .

Those Escalades are terribly bright!

Great video if you have a decent air conditioned large garage with a flat wall, room to back up 25ft and have the vehicle remain at the same level, enough ambient light to pull the entire headlight housing out and adjust it, pick up the several plastic bits held in place by a prayer, gravity or luck, refit them, then the entire housing with clips designed by a florist, test it again, then rinse and repeat several times till you get it correct. Obviously, you have never encounted a SN95 Mustang, on a 104°F day in Texas! They were designed by an 8 year old. Nice video, though. ....maybe one day!

That is a tell-tale sign that your headlights just might be aimed too tall! LOL

What about the horizontal position adjustment
@HeadlightRevolution2 жыл бұрын
This comes down to preference but generally the hotspots should be the same distance apart as the headlights.
@tuanzkie2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the instruction. Do you treat high beams the same height as low beams?
@HeadlightRevolution2 жыл бұрын
Yes! Your High beams will take a similar aim as your Low beams do.

Great video, but you continue with Dodge and Ram pickup trucks. I have a Ford Edge which has projector head mounts. I just want installed Led lights low/high beam however, my drivers side has a black shadow towards the middle of the SUV and the passenger side projects evenly. How can I adjust my drivers side light to where it is evenly aligned with the passenger side. Thank you

What kind of LED bulbs did you install? And did you install them correctly? Low quality LEDs can create really poor beam patterns. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJPJcqyni8yJmq8
