This game is actually a remake of one of the first Fnaf fan games made called the return to Freddy's its a remake of the second game hence why there is no "Winter wonderland 1" as far as i am aware the original lore for Fnaf still happens. so yeah the puppet does just wake up the souls.

I think that the phone calls can be a tricky thing, because some people want to defend instead of just sitting waiting for the call to be over, but the issue is exactly what you said, where it's sometimes just hard to concentrate on what they're saying if it's a later night where everything is wayyyyyy more active. Maybe a mechanic where activity would gradually go up during the calls, making it go ballistic if the call has something that would anger them. Idk tho, just a thought
