@@Mogamishu lol it's just true. If Federer was on his game then monfils would've been smashed. Look at the last 3/4 shots on the tiebreak. Federer having a normal day would've put them away easily. Same with the approach shots, terrible caliber and monfils had basically been given them on a plate.

its a shock bc of Fed's stats. He usually makes quarters or better on all tournaments including clay. that year he lost to Krygios madrid r32, won istanbul, lost rome final to djokovic and then lost RG quarters to Wawrinka. For a top 100, this would be an awesome clay court season, but to Fed its below his normal results.

@Firebird 37 i think he had all the atribuyes separated but never knew how too use his tools to be effextive and consistent, he is tall but flexible, can hit strong from both sides specially fh, good serve fast and agile, has a fair ammount of Flair and touches, but his iq Game was one of the worst of top players ove seen, it's like he played to loose or to win the hardest way, he has incontables "hot shots" when he ríps a great shot after running endleslly arround the court while having at least 3 times to end the point instead of forcefully extended it to make it more "spectscular", basically he was worn out in quarters without every chance to be a tittle contender, his story on gs was basically that

@@diegosotomiranda4107 I've heard from friends in France that specticle is treated as being almost more important than winning in french tennis and players being scorned by coaches for winning with strategies that don't result in a 'good show', at least in junior Leagues anyway. This kind of mentality could be something that's engrained in guys like monfils, and maybe why the French guys although great players, never quite had that edge to break into the very top levels of the tour.

To be the goat of tennis you must have multiple titles at any surface....where federer and nadal came a bit short. Novak's adaptability is really underrated
@spiritlance364
@spiritlance364 Жыл бұрын
Federer has won multiple clay titles and made it to 5 french finals. 2 semi finals. Overall 7 losses to Nadal at Roland Garros. Even if Novak is slightly better on clay (They have even head to head on clay but Novak beat Nadal more) It's difficult to say that Djokovic is better on hard or grass. His Wimbledon victories over Federer were peak Novak vs far past his prime Federer. Federer still has the most hard court wins of all time by over 100, and he has more US Open titles than Novak. Second most AO titles. - In short Federer still has a strong case for best hard court and grass court player ever. Couple that with being the 3rd best clay courter in the past 20 years and it's still a recipe for being the GOAT. Novak still can't touch Roger's best streaks like 65 straight wins on grass, 18/19 grand slam finals, 237 consecutive weeks at number 1, and 5 wimbledons and us open titles in a row both at the same time. Federer's peak stats are mind blowing. In terms of adaptability, clearly Federer showed the most during his career as well because he was the best from the serve and volley era all the way to the modern baseline game. Had to adjust and change his game the most.

@@spiritlance364 umm not to take anything away from federer but he, being the grass court specialist lost to novak in 3 finals of in Wimbledon- 2014, 2015, 2019. Dont play the age card cuz he was 32 in 2014. Having stated, he has most success in grass out of the three but in hard?! you gotta be kidding man. Yes he has most consecutive weeks at number 1. Novak has the 378 total weeks at being number 1+most year end number 1 place. 4 consecutive ATP Finals..now thts sth. Also Novak always had more hard court slams than Federer who was in his prime before novak. Federer is the only one out of the three not having 2 grand slams at each surface. It says sth doesn't it. Not to mention H2H in hard. Yes federer had to adapt his game but he couldn't at each surface. Novak is still adapting to the new gen which is why he's still world number 1. Playing against hostile crowds vs federer..and still always clutch.

@@promitdas067 You didn't disprove anything I said lol. Federer in 2014, was far past his prime, and was just coming off the worst season of his career, with a new raquet. 4 consecutive WTF isn't as impressive as 5 wimbledon and us open consecutive at the same time, or 18/19 grand slam finals, or 65 match win streak on grass. They both have the same amount of wtf titles. "Novak always had more hard court slams than Roger" This doesn't even make any sense. Federer has 11 hard court slams. Novak only recently passed him because of his bloated AO count. He isn't nearly as impressive at the US Open where Federer has the joint most. Not having 2 GS on each surface is just a worthless nitpick. He made it to many french finals and was clearly no 2 on clay from 2005-2010. Much more impressive is that Federer is the only man to have over 100 victories at two different slams, on two different surfaces. Djokovic only managed to pass Federer in head to head when Federer was 34, and Djokovic was at his peak in 2015-2016. The head to head argument is laughable. In his best years Federer was always ahead. Even 34 year old Federer beat Novak 3 times during his peak year in 2015. Each time in straight sets. Also Federer adapted his game to every surface. You're not making any sense. Look at his french open run in 2019 at 37! His success across all 3 generations of players proves that his adaptability was the best. Djokovic never had to play in the days of the serve volley era. I can't even imagine Djokovic as a serve volley player. A reminder that Djokovic is 35 now. Federer was 35 in 2017. We all know how dominant he was that year. Djokovic isn't doing anything extraordinary compared to Federer except he doesn't have rivals like Federer had in his 30s (Younger peaking Nadal and Djokovic.) There's literally a million reasons why Federer is the GOAT over Djokovic. I could go on forever.

@@spiritlance364 yepp playing the age and prime card as expected. Just before 2 years he almost completed calender slam nd now he's not even allowed to compete. Just won AO with an hamstring nd youre saying he's not doing anything extraordinary. His success during the big 3 era is shadowed by the success of djokovic. Many french finals? So? Did he win? Novak beat Nadal in the semis in 2021 to win French Open. It is because of players like novak serve volley era is gone. Do you know why? Surf the net who's the best returner in tennis of all time. Dont ask me. Dont play the prime and age card, youre disrespecting him. In his best years federer ahead? tf you mean by tht lol. If you challenge some amateur dude obv you will win. There was an era of dominance of nadal and federer nd no top 10 player believed they could win a slam. Then came a young 19 year old boy nd publicly stated 'I am gonna beat them'. You know who that is. Novak was world number 1 in both of the other goats' prime:)) He was dominant in 2015 season but losing to novak in Wimbledon Final again? Bruh If Novak started his career before the other two he would have more grass court titles. Okay Federer won 3 times in 2015 but Novak won 5🤣 His french open run in 2019? did he win it? pls enlighten me. 100 victories in slams over two surfaces? but only 20 slams...someone might have beat him numerous times in slams🤔🤔novak and rafa probably. btw amateur novak beat 'prime' federer in 2007 and 2008. Btw the only reason Federer has most consecutive weeks at no. 1 is cuz both Nadal and Djoko weren't there:) 2004-2008 to be exact..nd guess who ruined that🤧you gotta admit who came better out of the big 3. Btw djokovic had an elbow injury from 2016 nd eventually taking the surgery after AO 2018. Bro admit it Federer couldn't find a way with Novak. Btw Novak had the best season in 2011 having 10-1 against the other two rivals. Now say 'Federer wasnt in his prime in 2011'. Novak will come down as the greatest of all time whether you like or not..gotta accept it dude. In federer's best season in 2006 Novak just won his first title+_+ Face it, even nadal came better out of federer🤧The real debate is between Nadal and djokovic now. Federer leaving the chat*

Rafa is one of only four players to have ever won all 4 slams twice and was the youngest ever player (24 years old in 2010) to win all 4 slams at least once. So safe to say he has multiple titles on all surfaces. He has come up short recently but over the course of his career, definitely not.

Simply because they don't meet your requirements, and thus are not valid.. what a poor mindset to have! And it's not about Roger! If Djokovic or Nadal would be presented with that opportunity, then I would say the same! Since you can only plat what's in front of you! It's not their fault! That one of their biggest rivals doesn't make it to that stage! And by the way, Federer won big tournaments on clay! Madrid in the final against Nadal, in Hamburg when it was still a Masters 1000 tournament! Was really close I'm Rome in 06, made 4 consecutive finals in Paris! Nadal was basically unbeatable on clay at that time! And it's not like Djokovic was winning against him in that time frame, from let's say 08 until 011!
