80s and 90s NBA was the best. The Magic, Bird, and Jordan era. The NBA was nearly as big a draw as the NFL in those decades. Now the NBA is behind baseball in popularity, and the NFL is more popular than ever. NFL is king but the NBA has taken a huge slide. I haven't watched it since Jordan left the Bulls. It's unwatchable with all the traveling and Eurostepping and just change in rules/play.

I’m a Warriors fan since 1985. Michael Jordan was the greatest player I’ve ever saw. The sh1t he went through out there on that court every game and he still prospered. There is no comparison to Kobe or LeBron or any other great as Michael is 1/1. MJ was the only player that if he was on TV, I made time to watch his greatness. If he was playing in the Bay Area, ticket purchased. The kids and modern day fans haven’t a clue what greatness is, MJ defines it.

The "truth" is that if those sonics were at full strength (nate McMillan was injured), they likely would have won thus championship. (I know...coulda shoulda woulda). The sonics were as deep if not deeper than the bulls, thrived off of defensive play and matched up well. Jordan was going to be Jordan regardless but he didn't have the luxury of leaving defensive play to Pippen. The bulls had no answer for Kemp. He used both Pippen and Rodman like they were toilet tissue. Not having our 6th man limited what we could do. The sonics mgmt stupid didn't keep this team together.

Met Gary in a parking lot in CHI in 96 and he was probably the coolest superstar I ever met. In this Finals, he realized that: 1) You have to outplay MJ to beat him. But he realized he couldn't. 2) Resort to trash talk as a last prayer to try and take him out his game. Doesn't work either. You're just poking the Bear. There was really only 1 or 2 ways to beat MJ in that era: 1) Get him into foul trouble. 2) Let him get his 40 but focus on shutting down the rest of the Bulls.

The physicality of the games was just mind blowing. I remember game seven of ECF 1998 between the Bulls and the Pacers. To me that game defies the basketball of the 90’s.

Thinking back to this time and before players scoring 25-100 points with the PHYSICAL defense! Today's players would have a hard time playing 82 games! 🏀🏀🏀 Don't know if this is a record or not. A.C. Green only missed three games playing fifteen years!

today's players already have a hard time playing 82 the big pussies. Put them in 90s basketball and they would curl up and cry. In the 80s/90s the stat line showed many playing 82. You needed a damn good reason not to play. Another reason why Jordan is and always will be the GOAT

Something just hits different watching Jordan and that era of basketball. These were legit young guys, but they carried themselves like they 20 year pros, if that makes sense to anyone. The late 80s and 90s era of ball was just different. I look at the league today and I just think they're soft, tattooed, betas acting like they're alphas. Jordan and Payton are just one example of how real alphas acted.

Gary wasn’t guarding Jordan till late in the series one on one. Due to an injury. He actually slowed Jordan quite a bit. I watched this series back in the day. Jordan worst output of any of his NBA finals. Kemp was the best player in the series. IMO. If the Sonics would have won he would have been MVP. They couldn’t stop him.
