It was Dooku's opinion that since he trained Grievous with fear tactics and Jedi arts, Dooku felt/believed that Grievous could defeat any Jedi EXCEPT for Yoda. Now it was a fact that Grievous couldn't defeat ANY Jedi , as you mentioned the Jedi list comment, Grievous ran and relied on attack/retreat tactics most of his duels. Grievous did rely on his body guards but you should expect that from an enemy who won't play fair and is there to kill and murder, not be political and fair. its war and Grievous is a monster and a beast. Now whether Anakin could defeat Grievous one on one is still debatable since we NEVER saw them fight and I believe Grievous could defeat Anakin if Anakin doesn't use the dark side.

They gave Revenge of the with anakin a CRAZY power boost in the new canon. He was just side stepping head shots while obi wan and his men were taking cover. To be fair even in The Clone Wars show there are instances where Anakin almost encounter Grevious, with them sometimes only being a room apart. Besides, in canon Palpatine should be more concerned with Anakin killing Grevious than the other way around. Even Filoni agrees that if they actually meet, Anakin would kick Grevious’s ass much like how Kenobi did in ROTS

In the former Anakin was unconscious and his head was down and Grevious had his vision obstructed so in this circumstance they wean't able to look and talk one another. In the latter Anakin didn't notice Grevious as he was running and said name only got a quick glimpse of him from a distance. *Edit:* Also Anakin chased after him in his fighter in the R2 missing arc. Thats the closes they got to engaging in combat.

If Anakin regained consciousness as they wear being traded or if Grevious reacted quicker instead of just sitting there then the 2 could have interacted and even duelled. I find it interesting that in legends, Dooku always warned Grievous to never fight against Yoda and hoped that he'd never had the chance to do so. But here in canon, Dooku's reasons were warranted and his warnings came true. Yoda straight up made Grievous look like a fool and he wasn't even really trying at that point. Grievous is lucky that Yoda went easy on him but I also have to give a bit of credit that Grievous was able to fight him and lived to tell the tale.

He was exhausted after the fight on Geonosis and struggled hard in the rematch on Vjun, even got wounded twice. From the statements of various authors, including George Lucas himself, we know that Tyranus is a near equal to Yoda. Grievous was superior to Dooku in several aspects of combat and even made him struggle during the sparring sessions towards the end of the war, despite the fact that the Count trained him and had him designed to his own exact specifications. Some characters even outright considered Grievous to be more of a threat. 2) "Dooku warned Grievous about facing Yoda even in Legends" - yes, I alluded to that in my original post. Dooku provided Grievous with a list of several different Jedi that could pose a threat to him. Yoda was at the top of the list and had additional emphasis on how dangerous he was. However, Tyranus never claimed that victory is impossible and even suggested that Grievous would do well to prepare for such a fight. The other three people, at any rate, are definitely someone he could contend with or even outright defeat. Dooku was somewhat irritated with Grievous during the ordeal and was downplaying his skills to a degree. As he previously stated in the same novel, it is entirely possible that Grievous is a match for any Jedi. Mace Windu and arguably the rest of the Council thought that Kenobi was by far their best bet against Grievous, who could exploit his own or Yoda's weaknesses, and even he almost died to a badly injured General. 3) "He has 800 years of experience" - that did not stop Grievous from defeating Durge who had 2000 years of experience. Masters like Fay or Yaddle might have also had centuries of experience, but I don't think either of them was even close to Grievous. His learning algorithms would allow him to analyze and counter any Form of lightsaber combat after just a few seconds. 4) "He defeated a giant mountain monster by using just the Force" - he had a group of Force sensitive children united in meditation backing him up and was drawing on the power of the planet itself. The battle only ended when they brought out several more mountain entities of equal size to fight for them. Prior to that he was only holding it back. While said entity is incredibly big and powerful, it is extremely slow and doesn't have any fighting skill or intelligence. It's kind lacks any meaningful feats; they were driven to the edge of extinction by humans with primitive technology. Defeating a kaiju level enemy does not relate to fighting Grievous. Early war Padawan Anakin destroyed a Conqueror-class atmospheric dreadnaught with the Force and he only scales to around the level of a respective version of Asajj Ventress at the time as a combatant. 5) "Went head to head with Sidious and disarmed him" - yes, an extremely impressive feat. But it should be noted that Yoda went all out and reached a point of complete exhaustion by the end of the fight, which still ended in a loss. Sidious' lightsaber practice is lacking for his level of power; he mostly relies on the Force. Defeating Grievous would be about as difficult as it was with Dooku.

I honestly can appreciate this scene for giving some benefit for both characters. It shows Yoda is a calm and unwavered fighter, clearly better skilled, and all around continued badass. On the other hand, Grievous gets a scene to actually display noncowardice, being unrelenting, and not being a chump one shot by Yoda. Obviously in a drawn out death match Yoda will win, but it’s nice to see that Grievous isn’t just an utter pushover to him

I really hate Disney canon. Every single time they have grievous in anything they treat him like an imbecile. I think Dooku even told grievous if he ever saw Yoda to run because despite his enhancements. Yoda isn’t a pushover and would mess him up. Good to see that we finally get to see Dooku’s point in action.

I would love to see original Grievous from TCW'03 dueling Yoda. Clearly, he'll lose, but the fight would be quite long and epic, considering even Windu said that General,s computer brain quickly adapted to vaapad and started to gain advantage.
