This video reminds me of a show I used to see on TV late at night called "I Shouldn't Have Survived" or something similar. It was full of stories of crazy survival against all odds. There was a story on the news here a couple of years ago in which a woman got stranded in the Aussie outback, was assumed dead and then turned up on someone's massive farm where she'd found a well or water tank (I don't remember which). She had serious sunburn, dehydration and weight loss but she did survive.

That’s my favorite show! You should look for the one called lost in the Amazon. I cried at the end of that one because the man had to kill his dog to eat it! It made me SO sad because he found his way out the SAME day he killed his dog. He was close to death when he stumbled upon a tribe that saved him. I think he had malaria.
@amandah28662 жыл бұрын
@@Laswm4950 Yes, I saw that one! What was the worst part of that for me was that I knew there was no way he could actually eat the poor dog without vomiting after starving for so long. I felt bad for him and for the dog. But it was so wonderful of the local man to help him.

I know the Knopps family, I know them personally. We were all shocked when we heard this happening in real time. I’m actually close with his wife and we spoke about the Bible and God and his laws frequently. This a very kind family, very down to earth. We know that it was Jehovah God (Father of The celestial Lights) who gave Mr Knopps his strength and courage and perseverance. His prayers through Christ, were answered and he survived. You did an awesome job reporting this and it is very accurate! I will be sharing this with his wife especially, and whoever else. Can’t believe you did a story on someone I know. Great Job! Quite often my mother took us by Gertrude Baniszewski's house, which was just 3 blocks from my grandpa's house, and about 1 mile from my other grandparents'. Being the father of a disabled daughter, it makes me wish so badly that I was the age I am now when that happened, so I could have gone in to save Sylvia Likens. I think about that poor girl so often, and still drive by where those horrors took place probably a dozen times a month.
@feliciajenkins50412 жыл бұрын
I remember the Sylvia Likens story💔she really had a rough life. Her father failed her leaving them with that woman. Whenever he didn't pay on time or at all is what made their abuse more intense until she couldn't take more and died.
@13lilsykos2 жыл бұрын
Her parents didn't really fail her though. They thought she was being taken care of as the woman never told them, "Hey, btw I'm torturing your kids because I'm a hateful old c**t... Hope that's okay!". From what I remember, the girls never told their parents anything was ever going on either. Gertrude started out spanking the girls when the payment she was supposed to get showed up late. Even then, from what I've read, it was only ever one or two days late. In my opinion that's like saying the parents were in the wrong for letting their kid get molested by a trusted adult (coach or teacher, etc).

Where I live, the Blue Mountains NSW, there’s countless missing person cases because bushland is so rugged and people go bushwalking and end up getting lost. People shouldn’t go bushwalking unprepared and need to understand the terrain and conditions and give notifications as to where you’re heading and estimated time of return so people can try and find you. I’ve lived here all my life and there’s no way I would just go out bush without proper preparation and precautions, it’s just common sense.

Any time I head out of town I always make sure there's a gallon of water in my truck. Especially if it's, "just for the day," to go shooting or hiking, off-roading, etc. Mentally you're 30 minutes from civilization, but practically you're on a remote island in the middle of the nowhere. And that's no more apparent than when something goes wrong. Most of us could go days with no food. But in some situations you'll be dead by dusk if you run out of water. Especially where I live as during the summer we will see sustained high temps of 105f, with stretches of 115+ not uncommon.

Bailey Sarian has a video about Gertrude and after hearing the abuse Dianna, and especially her sister, Sylvia, endured, one would think she'd have maxed out her bad experiences meter for a lifetime! Like, if karma were real, she'd have definitely suffered enough and would deserve nothing but an easy, blissful life after all of that! I can't imagine how bad it must've been to not only live with those memories but then to also end up in a hopeless position once more and have to endure losing the love of her life and then sit with his corpse for what surely felt like far more than a week, even if it wasn't, while waiting to succumb to death herself! It's amazing that she survived but I also hope she's done with tragedy now! If anyone deserves a break and peace, it's her!

I think he left with the goal of either come back with help or don't come back at all. Given the tiny rations she had left, I think he knew that they didn't have enough food for both of them to last long and was willing to just keep going HOPING to find help or at least give her a better chance of survival until help arrived.
