My mom raised us under impossible circumstances. My dad left and my mom, who has an intellectual disability, did her best to take care of us. She still managed to volunteer for the fire department and ambulance service. We were incredibly poor but there was no doubt she loved us and would do anything she could for us. We learned the true meaning of empathy and self sacrifice.

Women like her who juggle several major issues alone whilue raising a family, working a couple jobs to keep a roof over her family's head & food on the table deserve our upmost respect, admiration & gratitude. When Hurricanes kill would be a good topic...my hometown of Galveston, Texas was hit by a hurricane back in 1900. It killed 6000 unprepared islanders and remains one of the worst natural disasters in history. Sad story...the nuns in the orphanage tied all the children to themselves in hopes of not having the children get swept away. They were all discovered dead under debris still tied to each other. Most sickeningly, the corpses of the dead were shipped off the beach in the hopes they would be carried away. The weren't. Their bodies washed back onto the beach...very tragic story! My Aunt Edith who was 15 years old at the time was one of the few who survived. True story!!

Just decided recently to cut my toxic externally disparaging and controlling mother out of my life. I guess I feel a bit better now that she's not as insane as the ones on this list. Still wouldn't slap her in public for any amount of money though, she's unhappy enough with her life as it is and I just don't need her to drag me down with her.
@ZombieSazza2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on cutting your toxic family from your life, and also my condolences. I cut my toxic family from my life a few years ago and whilst I was proud of walking away and saying “I’m done, I can’t stand the constant abuse, bye” it still broke my heart. Do you have a good friend support group? You may need to lean on them for emotional support at times. I’ve cPTSD & PTSD from my families abuse throughout my lifetime (homophobia, weaponising my disabilities, gaslighting, mother enabling brothers violent behaviour towards me, forced to bring up my brother because my mother didn’t want to parent, it goes on) but I can still struggle with it all at times, I’ll feel incredibly lonely and lost, heartbroken, betrayed, depressed, and I’ll grieve the family that I lost because it was healthier for me to cut all contact, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. I still loved my mother, even if she did tell me wonderful things such as “you’re the reason I’m depressed”, “you ruined my life”, “you’re the reason I want to kill myself”, and I still loved her even tho she turned a blind eye to my brothers violence and completely ignored the bruising around my neck and on my face from his attacks, because naturally as her daughter, I yearned for her love. It’s difficult to explain to folk with a healthy family dynamic, they’re proud you’ve cut all contact because it means you can live a mentally healthier life and they congratulate you cutting all contact, but don’t understand why you’d grieve in the first place. I hope this makes sense to you? Don’t be afraid to get emotional support from your friends, even if it’s just hanging out with friends irl/online (like a discord call at the weekend) and chatting rubbish for hours to destress and be around people who love you, I’ve found it to be extremely helpful and I don’t feel so alone when I do this. I hope this makes sense x
@crimsonshadow16492 жыл бұрын
@@ZombieSazza hi, and thanks for your support and sharing. Your mother sounds like a real piece of work. Honestly mine was not that horrible and probably did think her toxic behaviour was for my own good, when really all she wanted was to be able to control me and expected me to obey all her demands. My whole life, she was incapable of being proud of any of my achievements and instead still acts like she has the right to control me and demand obedience regardless of my opinions even though I'm almost 40 now and a perfectly independent adult. In her mind, I've been nothing more than a rebellious disobedient teenager even though I never did all the typical bad things teenagers did like drugs, vandalism, pretty crimes. Though my own choices, I've made a great life for myself with a good job, my own house and car and no need to rely on anyone, while she is stuck in a rut, in a loveless marriage with a my father who she got hitched too only coz she needed someone to support her, and miserable most of the time. And yet until today, she can still tell me to "listen to sound advice FOR ONCE" when trying to make me obey her, as if I'm the one who's made dumbass mistakes all her life and made herself stuck in a miserable state. Umm, no

@ZombieSazza2 жыл бұрын
It makes me really sad reading all the comments, and also really jealous. Folk have such good relationships with their mothers and I’m jealous because my mother abused me, allowed my brother to violently abuse me growing up, and she always chose random men she barely knew over caring for us. As an adult I had to cut her out of my life entirely for my own mental health and the fact she is very, very toxic and abusive, which has made me feel lonely but it’s something I’ve had to do, so I’m very jealous of everyone who has a loving relationship with their mothers and feels loved, because I genuinely don’t know what that’s like, she didn’t tell me she loved me, instead she’d tell me she wished I wasn’t born, I was the reason she was depressed and I was the reason she wanted to kill herself, and as an adult her abuse didn’t stop simply because I moved out. When I cut all contact she only tried to contact me to harass, bully and threaten me. I’m extremely jealous of everyone who has a loving relationship with their mother, so please give her a hug and tell her you love her.

I think if I split the money with my mom then she'd be understanding if I slapped her for 50k. She did have me do stuff to help her save a few bucks before, so I think this would be understandable.

@Jerry Haden Hey, I'm just willing to do what I'd expect my mom to do if she got offered the to hit her daughter. And I'm not sure she'd actually split the money - I'd actually split the money.

Courtney in Idaho was originally from the town next to me in Los Gatos, California. This was a HUGE case as she was having parties here before they moved because authorities were closing in on her here.

I love the fact that They Will Kill You focuses on cases and incidents that are not quite as well known. It is a welcome break from the same old cases that are over covered in the media and by KZbin creators.

My uncle gave my mother a .357 for protection. The evil woman put the gun in our basement which was where we played. It was out in the open. We were told not to touch it. Thankfully, none of us did, but now that I am an adult, I honestly think she hooped we would have played with it.
