Game 2 of the NBA finals was way more competitive than Game 1, but it was a result of execution as opposed to adjustments.

Jrue Holiday was a phenomenal two-way player which is instrumental in the Celtics clinching the victory. Though I am a Mavs fan, I have to acknowledge that the Celtics have outperformed the Mavs both offensively and defensively in the first 2 games. We will be back in Dallas for game 3 and the series is not over yet.

Mavs got a lot of deadweight in the rotation. Kleber and Josh Green gives you absolutely nothing. THJ, who's supposedly your best shooter, is unplayeable. DJJ is being asked to play a bigger role offensively without the skills to match. It's all Luka and a little bit of PJ.

But they were wide open for a reason. If you're a Mavs fan, I mean, hey, PJ shot 47% in round 2. Even a broken clock is right twice a day so you just hope the shooting variance gods smile upon you. But as an unbiased observer, with the exception of Kyrie, those guys are shooting poorly because they are average or below average shooters taking shots they aren't _comfortable_ taking

Kyrie has to play better than 12 and 16 points through the first 2 games. They're gonna need someone else to score more than just Luka putting up 30 points a game. Dallas needs them both to score 30 plus the contribution of PJ scoring 17 like he did in game 2. And shoot freethrows better.

And still might be. Minnesota looked awful in year one and everyone wrote them off too. And they still lose in round 1 if they don't make the trade because Giannis was out As good as Jrue is, he's not _remotely_ close to as good as Damian Lillard as a primary ball handler and scorer. Jrue Holiday is not just some guy who can play D. He has scored 51 points in one game. That means he's one of those guys who, when he feels it, can score with ANYONE. And he's playing on a team with guys like Tatum, Brown, and even White. All those guys need to be double-teamed at times. So if you leave a guy like Holiday even for a second, that's how he casually puts 26 on you.

Boston schemes are effective in multiple levels not just taking away corner threes and lob passes, kyrie playing like his little drew, but also making doncic do more by defending even less the offensive burden is so heavy when it comes to clutch he no longer has the legs for it. Personally i was so afraid of Dallas specially when the score board is close down the stretch but in game 2 you can see they are running him to the bones and come clutch he’s running on fumes… still i would want to be in a close rock fight with any team that has doncic and kyrie but boston has been the superior team in all aspects of the game, their strategy, execution, personnel, effort all the 50/50 ball offensive rebound that matters specially from the guard white, Pritchard and holiday have offensive rebounds… even with a game they’re supposed to lose they find a way to win, to all the haters and doubters this team is for real and can be a big problem for the competition for a few more years to come ❤🎉

That’s so far from what happened, you Tatum sniffers need to lay off the pipe. He locked up Tatum and held him to horrible shooting while injured. Single handedly kept his team in the game. Scored at will every time Tatum was on him like he wasn’t even there. And in 2-3 of those turnovers he got trucked with no fouls because the refs are clearly favoring Boston. Just accept that Luka was the best player in the nba this year and is taking on a stacked team 1 on 7. Burn your Tatum jersey.

That block/"controversial non-call" was definitely the defining moment of this game. Not saying the mavs would of win that game but it was that momentum. After that it shift quickly back to celtics and the added urgency of the mavs to caught up with the little amount of time ended it for them. But I really think the team really needs to shoot better especially most of them are wide open shots. And free throws are wasted. The fact that Boston played a little worse than their Game 1 and mavs playing a little better than their Game 1. And Boston still won is a statement. Maybe homecourt advantage? Well idk. You can't take any of these games in the finals for granted.

You are dead wrong. Yes, the Celtics shot poorly in 25.6% from threes. However, the fact is Mavs shot even worse. The Celtics shot well from the FT line to make up for it. At the end of the day, it’s about eFG%

Yeah but if we make half of those threes the score would have been 120 something to 98

U have to factor in the 3s that were taken tho, Celtics were getting clean looks with basically all 40% from 3 shooters, while mavs taking iso 3s and having jones jr taking top of the key 3s
@HoopVenue
@HoopVenue 5 ай бұрын
The difference is that a lot of those missed 3s from the Mavs are shots that the Celtics want them taking (top of the key from role players) While the Celtics are missing looks that are typically 40% shots.

Yeah, I liked it. Sure it was a foul at the end of the game. But the refs called a good game, also according to the stats. Dallas is a true underdog having spent a middle of the pack price tag for their rooster. Not only the team but the organization deserves recognition for this. It's tough for teams that don't spend the most money to compete at this level.
