Oh, I didn't realize you were so geographically close to me! (Relatively speaking.) I'm in the Brazos Valley. So, not identical climates, but much closer to my growing conditions than most other orchid KZbinrs. I'm so sorry about your family's recent avalanche of nonsense, and I certainly hope your father in law will be okay! That's so terrible. We've had such peace of mind since getting my grandmother to wear a LifeAlert button - she has a massive back yard and loves to putter among her plants all day AND is in her mid 90s, and while she hasn't had a fall yet, it's pretty much inevitable. Though I suspect nobody will be letting your FIL out of sight for a while. Much love.

I'm so sorry you are having a rough time this spring. I hope your father-in-law recovers quickly and it doesn't turn out to be something serious. Great video. I'm also repotting some dendrobiums today. I thought I would be repotting three, but one of them turned out to actually be two orchids. A friend's mother gave me a few orchids in October 2022. One of them was a Den Aridang Green and it had beautiful pale green blooms last year. This year, it put out a very long spike, and when the first bloom opened, I was in shock. The blooms were purple! It looks a lot like a Burana Star Blue.

Thanks for sharing about your Dendrobiums…and thanks for watching! It’s one day at a time on the caregiving front.

@TheOrchidHut I understand the one day at a time. My husband has late mid-stage Alzheimer's, and I am his sole caretaker. Prayers for you all.

. I'm sorry to hear about your dad and father in law. I have a den phalaenopis that I got on October 23. Feel out of its pot in May of 24. I was going to repot in spring of 25. Should I wait until October 25. It needs a clean up. It still has 4 of it's old canes. I have one cane and growing another cane out of it's first new cane. It's sitting lopsided because of the old canes. In a 5 inch pot.. The old canes are still green and hard but I sure the roots are dead. It growing roots.

Difficult to answer without actually seeing the orchid and roots. Generally, repot right before new roots start to grow. This requires understanding the orchid’s growth pattern.

Thank you ❤ How often do you water your flowers? Because mine are getting yellow leaves
@TheOrchidHut7 ай бұрын
Watering is an “it depends” situation. It depends on the particular orchid, whether or not it is growing indoors or outdoors, etc. Some prefer or tolerate more moisture while others like a strict wet/dry cycle. Yellow leaves could just be normal leaf shedding.

What temps do u get there in Texas this time of year? We are getting 100 this weekend. It's catts and dendrobiums and my nodosa. Should I bring them in?
@TheOrchidHut7 ай бұрын
HOT 🥵! Low 100’s F with ‘feels like’ around 110-115. Very humid. You don’t need to bring them in, just make sure they are very shaded midday (10 AM till 2:00 PM).
