Very good question MarcKo! Run fast and then turn. You should think of 'What is the fastest way to get there' If you play the contra-pared you don't even have to be side-ways that much. If you don't play contra-pared then turn when the ball hits the wall.

I think it's depend of the type of lob (or the quality of the lob). If it's a quick lob down the line: you have no time. Run as hell to the glass! If it's a hight lob: you have plenty of time. Run side way, pay a eye to the other team, then choose your shot.

Great question! I think you shoudn't really use it, just for fun or surprise. There is only one reason when you should and thats when the ball is behind you. And you need that extra wall to still get the ball back.

I usually play the 'contra-pared' las a last resource. It's too difficult to play accurate and the risk to have smashed, if the lob become short, in high. I prefer to play a 'bajada', a 'chiquita' or a quick lob down the line (if my oposite is near the net). By the way, after a 'contra-pared' lob, the ball bounce too much, that minds an easy ball to the other team. The 'Contra-pared' is usefull... but as a last bullet in the gun chamber.
