I made a new flavor of blended tea yesterday that I adore doing exactly that. 8 tea bags of generic black tea. Two tea bags of wild berry zinger Celestia Tea. 8 (drinking, not measuring) cups of not-quite boiling water. About two tablespoons of Mio Acai Berry water flavoring(mine was the caffeinated version but I doubt it matters). Add...(I'm guessing here. I didn't actually measure the amount of water but just filled the rest of a breakfast cereal-holder container with water after pouring that in because I don't have a gallon-pitcher. I was drunk and decided to improvise) and a 1/3 measuring cup of generic honey. No sugar-sugar. Let steep as long as you want. Mix well after removing the tea bags. Can be drank hot or cold as it tastes good either way.

I like these stories, a part of me knows that maybe we won't bring anything new to the table that would surprise aliens as advanced as in said stories, because they probably existed for longer than us and have interacted with countless other civilizations, still i like the idea of us basically being the honey badgers of the galaxy and just not giving a damn about what it throws at us.

Hello Agro. Yup, Humans will eat almost anything... and some will eat things they know are not 'food'. I once saw a documentary about a man that would eat anything, and who had eaten a vast array of items like toasters, silverware, etc. Upon being presented with a wooden plaque with a brass plate noting his Guinness World Record, he began to eat it as well. So, I don't think the story is 'far-fetched' at all. In fact, I once wrote a little short story about aliens coming to Earth and being sold foodstuffs. It was entitled as: "It all started with the Strawberries". In the tale, the aliens found they could not consume anything they found around them on Earth, until a Human noted their search and helped them, by presenting item after item to be tested by their equipment... Starting with Strawberries... and ending with that 'rare' Earth delicacy called 'Sticky Rice'. Just before the aliens left, the Human presented another item to be tested... another form of rice. One with a lower glucose count that would be a unique food for their 'pets', or lower class citizens. Since the alien ship's holds were filled with Japanese rice, they told the Human they would return for a cargo mixed cargo of both varieties of the rice... for a 'hefty' price due to the 'rarity' of the foodstuff. The Human told the aliens that he would hire hundreds of other humans to produce the crops and store the food for their arrival, and then took his payment... 100 tons of 'sticky' rice, for 5 tons of solid Gold. And the aliens flew off, snickering at how they had 'fooled' the primitive Human into taking abundant Gold for such a 'rare' foodstuff. In the Author's Note after the story, I mentioned that one man's treasure, can sometimes be another's trash. And, that if you don't know, you may end up paying too much, for something so common as to be like air, or water, or even dirt.

Finding out that one of the most common poisoning deaths is from the family of carrots is terrifying as the plants look extremely identical. Potatoes are extremely low on poison but the plant itself, instead of the root can make you terribly sick if not kill you. Alcohol and vinegar are fairly obvious. Onions can reduce your blood oxygen terribly, the list is quite substantial

Reminder: A common human origin myth has it that the god of the humans pointed out one plant and said: “Not only will that kill you, but it will cause untold suffering as well. So don’t.” And the humans did anyway. And the god of the humans has been asking “Why are you like this?” ever since. Cain invents murder, thinking he’ll never be caught? “Why are you like this? I know exactly where your brother’s blood is. It’s right there.” Humans use leftover firewood to create a “new god” to worship? “Why are you like this? Why are you talking to wood?”

Humans do not always avoid food they know will kill them. I used to have a neighbor who's allergy to fish was cranked up to 11, Once a year she would make up a couple tuna fish sandwiches then call 911 and tell them she was having a sever allergic reaction and once she was off the phone she would sit down and enjoy her sandwiches then go spend a couple days in a hospital bed. I heard she decided to have one of those sandwiches while drunk and forgot to call 911, not sure if she made it or not as that was the last thing I ever heard about her.

Botanically, tomatoes are classed as fruits. However, the US Agriculture Dept ruled that fruits coming into the country would be taxed, and people called them vegetables. Now the US is probably the biggest grower of tomatoes in the world today, and tomatoes are the top crop in home gardens, with hundreds of varies, like Beefsteak, Cherry and Grape sized tomatoes. Older tomatoes were high acid, but today many have been cross bred to be low or no acid "sweet" tomatoes.

Well. If we consider how stars work as well as matter and atoms. We can safely assume that if there is life in the universe, it would work on carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, phosphorous, sulfur and oxygen, since this are, apparently, quite available. With this we can conclude, that one, there may be sexy blue alien girls. But more importantly.... Aliens may be edible. And even more remarkable, they may be delicious.
