t's weird that he would describe Ken as incel because he's not really present as such yea hes a socially awkward nerd but it not like hates woman or wants to live out some Male fantasy he clearly states that all he wanted was some friends and Momo points that Ken isn't really a bad guy but the reason he has no friends is because he assumes other people's feelings about him as automatically negative and doesn't try to open himself up to others or give others a chance to prove his feelings wrong . He assumes that Momo wouldn't like him or want be friends because Shes a Gyaru while hes a Sci-Fi nerd but when he gives her a chance and opens up to her, he finds out that she is not that shallow and is also somewhat of a nerd herself because she has interest in the supernatural and it is shown that she is also kind of a loser as well because she gets bullied for believing in the supernatural and her few friends are also weirded out by her obsession with actor Ken Takakura. What I like about their relationship is that they can understand each other because they both have to deal with being outcast because of their interest and beliefs and they find comfort and solace in one another because of that. Subaru is honestly the one present as more of an incel because he only falls for Amelia in the beginning off of the superficial fact that Shes attractive and pretty. He also only supports her in the beginning because he had this main character syndrome fantasy even though he was not equipped at all to deal with the harsh reality of his new world and every time he died, he blamed Amelia because he hated the fact that he was putting himself through all that pain and suffering for her and yet she didn't acknowledge his feelings. This was a very selfish and pathetic mindset for him to have because he felt that Amelia owed him for putting his life on the line for her even though she didn't ask him to, and she wasn't under any obligation to return his affection for her.

Kinda don't get why are so many people trying to find well written female characters in shounen anime when shoujo as a genre exists, plus all the other genres like romcom, slice of life, seinen, yuri also known for having more well written female characters. If we want to s*xualize male characters we have yaoi and reverse harem too and people are still be hyper focusing on shounen for some reason like? 😂 funny that I made similar comment years ago about how people are complaining about yaoi genre not being made for gay men, while completely ignoring bara as a genre that is specifically made for gay men, idk people just don't make sense a lot of the times

The one problem with this video is the title, calling teenagers incels, espesialy when it looks like they actually can get some is crazy, for example, Subaru has Rem, if he really wanted he could have gone the pseudo sloth route, I know Rem say yes first time in that if story, but I think he could have said yes after and then be her hero, Emilia has Subaru, now Emilia is the real incel in Re:Zero, in a timeline without Subaru she have gotten killed in the Manson by the witches cult, maybe Roswell would have saved them, but she would go nowhere as a royal candidate. Which is just the story of Re:Zero, Subaru gets isekai'd trading his life with his family and eventual fixing it and getting a wife and living a nice peaceful life for the lives of all the people he can save in the otherworld living a to be seen and painful streesful life. Dandandan is just two kids falling in love most romance anime have the same thing, they are also teenagers so I wouldn't expected it in todays world, i cant rember the last time I heard of teen pregnancy around me or in media. False cickbait, bad clickbait.

I already commented on that video but " incel romance" is a stupid concept. Being an incel meaning you are untitled to someone else's feelings and emotion, so calling that romantic is definitely a red flag. The person making the video also doesn't understand what's "an incel" from the beginning, so the arguments " these incels romance done right" is just back-to-back nonsense. If the argument was"how these anime romances tropes about annoying or nerd characters done right " then it would make sense. But in this case, since the beginning statement already is quite nonsensical, the point falls flat immediately.

@@whateverwhatever4476 he being nice more about realizing he's a dude with no actually power in world that can snap his neck at anytime seem like a survivor instinct to me. Bullied kids or abused survivors will tell you they still act nice to their bullies/abusers because of fear, not alone Subaru is stuck in this world that torture him to death just to revive him and do that again. The survival instinct gonna kick in as he tried to be nice to everyone while asking for something helping him to move forward. And yes, in later episodes and seasons, he developed a genuine emotional bond and became less selfish . Calling Subaru an "incel" is quite disgenuine and unfair for the character, it's an act he must put on because most is not gonna believe him about his re-do power and he must live through again and again horrors. I can even excuse his annoying tendency because that's part of his coping mechanism when people suffer from PTSD and tragedies, in his case, he could have to live over those events again and again.

@@jabaited it was on purpose. Tappei made Subaru have nice guy/incel tendencies on purpose for the sake of a commentary on people who are like that. Also, as a callout to his younger self. The entire royal selection especially the novel version highlights this. Even Subaru himself in his own narration straight up admits to himself the only reason he's there is for his own ego and is desperate need to be wanted and seen by Emilia even if that means he has to go against her own wishes when that's something she never asked of him. It's straight up spelled out throughout arc 3 and very briefly touched on in arc 2 mostly in side stories. Nearly on Red did an analysis on the main 5 characters that show this side of themselves and their flaws. Subaru, Rem, Emilia and Garfiel. It talks about it that aspect of Subaru and how his actions at the royal capital were basically him repeating the same actions that lead him to quitting school all over again Subaru feels the need to be wanted and is desperate to have some sort of identity and or role to attach himself. Subaru because he was desperate to see himself as the "MC that is liked by everybody" attached himself into this hero role he put himself into on saving Emilia because he's desperate and needs to feel needed which is why he went against her wishes when nobody asked him to. It's like legit said in the novel that things would have gone better if Subaru wasn't even there. He had no obligation or need to be there for Emilia, he didn't change anything nor did he add anything to the discussion. Actually, we see in the novel that Emilia was handling herself pretty well after she answered the people's fears of her being half elf by giving a inspiring speech to the council and then apologizing to her for their ignorance Which then Subaru almost immediately ruins by feeling the need to white knight due to his own insecurities of realizing Emilia doesn't need him their 24/7 Arc 4 also sorta touches in this aspect of Subaru, while Subaru does learn that he needs to let Emilia do stuff on his own after arc 3 the main issues are still there. Like not letting Emilia have her own agency as a individual and not really believing in her. Which actually broke him after he realized it Subaru was essentially stuck into into the mindset of it being a typical isekai where he gets the girl, he becomes the hero and everybody admires him because he's been fed that again and again. That view of things shatter in arc 3. We see in one of the side story that to cope with the trauma of Eem killing him that Subaru has to literally trick himself into viewing his death there as a necessary thing to "move the plot" forward. His whole seeing things that way is a coping mechanism

That's crucial, incel does not and will not admit themselves they are being nice to get something, instead they would entitle themselves to get something for being nice. If Subaru admits to this then he's well aware of his actions and thoughts, as he being nice and acting nice was survival instinct but unaware that's his instinct, this negates the "incel tendencies" argument since it's the opposite of what we're condemned him with. It also kinda undermines some of his actions instead of "being nice" but he was genuinely being kind but due to his complex ( of him thinking he's taking advantage of people) , he thought he was only being nice to survive, that again a coping mechanism but for his moral. He downplays his actions multiple times by acting annoyingly, but looking into everything, his actions(when he's emotionally stable) and thoughts also does not carry malicious intents even in extreme situations, that's a very clear indication that the " incel tendencies" argument is really unfair for the character since by definition, " incel" and their tendencies will always carry and further some variable of malicious goal for themselves. As for the author, that's also unfair for the character because as i know, he didn't spawn in a world of death, magic and he was just a dude like Subaru. He can criticize his past self as he wants but again, compared to what situation Subaru was in then i don't think that's a fair 1 to 1 comparison. For the stuff with Emilia, i don't see that's incel tendencies either, because he was not entitled to her but instead that's his ignorance and fear. He fears bad stuff gonna happen, he fears for her which is absolutely wrong and stupid of him but that doesn't scream " incel", that just screams he acts like the average asshole thinking he knows something more than everybody else. I must emphasize, he was an asshole but that doesn't make him an " incels" or have " incels" tendencies. Because at the end of the day he cares about her for not malicious intent, if he was an incel or got " incels tendencies", this should only bother him as an inconvenience for him not getting what he wanted.

The "until he didn't" part in the black clover part was pretty stupid because the reveal after that makes that whole dynamic even sadder and much more nuanced. And seems like this video was another in line of wah wah strong female characters dont exist. And its laughable that one of the examples he brought up was bleach because it has a fairly well written female cast.

I'm sorry but he (sometimeseli) completely misunderstand Ochaco's goal and how it ended. Claiming that she failed but it's the opposite. Spoiler for the end of My hero academia manga First, yes Toga dies but Ochaco still saved her heart and her soul. She allowed her (Toga) to be finally accepted by someone and Toga CHOOSE to sacrifice herself to save Ochaco. If Ochaco had not saved her, Toga wouldn't have made the decision to die for her. Second, that's double standard because Izuku (the main MALE character) did the exact same thing. He couldn't save Tenko(Shigaraki) physically but he still bring him some peace that he(Tenko) destroyed the current society.

Nah, cause neither Ochako, Deku, or the story see it as a full success, Ochako and Deku are clearly portrayed as disappointed with the outcome, the story talks about saving someone in both body And soul, and Toga mentions "the house still being there" when talking about her heart right before committing suicide, she wasn't fully saved, it's supposed to be taken as a tragedy to push the lesson harder into Ochako, that if only someone reached out to them sooner
