When IRB launch goes WRONG! (Faulty engine)

Launching an IRB in very rough and big conditions for practice training when... the motor fails to propel us forward, causing us to idle in the water and be victims to the unforgiving surf! Lucky, no one was injured, the motor was assessed and found to be faulty, off to be serviced and replaced.
Good it happened during training and not for a real rescue!

With that higher revs he put on it, you sure yoy didn't break the drive shaft casue as we saw and heard the revs didn't come down when you put it into forward gear which could have broken the drive shaft????

Good point raised Finn! The motor was already in forward gear prior to the launch of the IRB because the launch window was very small due to the large swell (and hence we got swamped the moment the motor failed to move us!). I had already checked twice before launch it was in the forward position, and the leaning over and pushing it down again was a natural reflex move for me, if you look at frame 2:13 you can see the motor already in the forward position before confirmed position again!

@@thegrowthparamedic Ohh yes you do have a point with that it was already in Forward gear prior to launch, I'm just going off what the IRB 30 HP outboards we use here in New Zealand would respond and look like on that side, as the lever is easier to see, but yea, as you do have a point not sure exactly, would be wrong could be driveshaft could be the gear lever not kinda connected properly, could be anything really haha.
