I love this! Thank you so much for explaining things on a scientific level. The whole “cure time” thing was definitely giving me anxiety 😟.

I agree that when one person says something ppl think because they are on KZbin that that’s the correct information. I looked everything up for myself. If ur making products that ppl are using on their bodies and on their children u need to know ur info and u can’t rely on what someone else says u have to research it for urself. In good conscience u have to.

Another great gob of good information. Thank you for sharing. Ionie from Eve's Garden said that doing CPOP when using titanium dioxide will cause glycerin rivers. I forgot that rule and found out that she was right. Fortunately, it was very appealing in my design.

Thank you! So many people refuse to believe the chemistry behind soap making because they read somewhere once about something. A lot of things soapers do are more tradition than anything. I'd had to quit facebook groups because if people sharing misinformation and practically bullying people trying to explain the science.

As others have said, THANK YOU! Totally new to soaping as well, and made 4 (42oz) loaves 2 weeks ago. Two different floral scented, and two different woodsy scented. The dining room smells amazing as they sit on cooling racks atop my wife's buffet. Her, along with our teenage son (17) and daughter (16), having been hovering and sniffing. ME ESPECIALLY. Because I'm saying they can't be used for 4 weeks. Although the other day, my daughter and I washed our hands with some small slivers I kept as well, and man did it lather nice and quick, plus smells oh so good. Thank you, again, my Sister for clarifying things!!😲🤔🤦♂️❤🤣🥳 Those bars you are stamping look great! I'm digging the pucks in particular. Did you use the Pringle can hack for those?

Hello from another Washingtonian. Born and raised Seattle area, Eastside. Retired and escaped the RAIN! to central WA. So I cut my very first loaf of soap on my 83rd birthday. Glad to hear I don't have to wait months to try it out as "time" is not in my favor. 😁 It's a simple Coconut, Olive, and Lard mix. I'm wondering if there is anything I should know about because when I made it, the ingredients were 110°f and the temperature in my garage was at least 105°f. After leaving it sit out for about an hour the whole top was split open the full length and raised like a volcano. Not knowing what to do, I pushed it down gently and stuffed it in the refrigerator. After a few hours it looked almost normal with a small slit in the top. Today as I cut it, it looked what I thought was somewhat normal. I can provide my recipe if that would help diagnose any mistakes. Thanks for the great videos. They are most helpful to us newbies.

Hey! Thanks for reaching out! It overheated; tends to happen with soaps that have a lot of coconut oil. Completely safe; if you’d like that to not happen next time, put it in the fridge right away. Congrats on your first soap!

This is wonderful, thank you. I used to be a potter and we have the same problem; old/incorrect information just being passed around and around. Thank you for this great clarification. My question is: what is the solution you are spraying on the soaps before stamping? I know stamping my pottery back in the day came with some nuance in technique; I would love to know what you're doing to keep your stamps nice and clean if you are willing to share. :) Thank you very much for all you HAVE shared!

Hey! So I spray my soaps with rubbing alcohol sometimes before stamping, but I’ve found that the best way to stamp is with a layer of plastic wrap between the soap and stamp. :)

I have a question about soap cracking. I know it is excess heat causing my batch to crack. Any cold process batch I make with the exception of oatmeal will crack unless I place the mold in the freezer... My hard oils are are about 60% of my batch and I soap at a little below 100 degrees and I don't usually put sugar, bear etc. in my soaps. I do have thick plastic molds and not sure if maybe they are holding too much heat which would not make sense when you can CPOP a batch in the oven and it turns out fine. Sorry if this question seems silly but I am at a loss to figure this out. Thank you for the excellent video, I really learn a lot from watching your channel!
@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Hey! I’ve had issues with cracking when using thick walled plastic molds without CPOP, so I think your theory is sound. Have you tried the same recipe in a different mold?

@ashmodo10973 жыл бұрын
Just bc you can doesn’t mean you should. That bar isn’t going to last. It will reduce in size super fast.
@MrsSoapAndClay3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the bar, as always. Always safe to use, test, etc - within max a few days. “Reducing in size super fast” also has a ton to do with the recipe.
@Mrs_Canary2 жыл бұрын
Very informative!. By how much should water content be reduced to prevent glycerin rivers?
@MrsSoapAndClay2 жыл бұрын
It really depends! I’d start at a 2:1 ratio and go down from there if you’re still getting them and can work with a thicker batter.

What is c-pop and what are you spraying on the soaps? Ty
@MrsSoapAndClay2 жыл бұрын
CPOP is cold process oven process. It’s adding an additional heat cycle to the soap to force gel. I spray the top with rubbing alcohol to not get soda ash.

@@MrsSoapAndClay Thank You for replying! I googled it after, only I thought the rubbing alcohol was to prevent bubbles. I recently did my very first soap batch (orange patchouli, cold process); its almost 48 hours and I can't wait to slice it up.

@@MrsSoapAndClay it’s not about feelings. It’s about experience. I also prefer gifting bars to friends and family that last. Not a gummy bar that is going to reduce is size down to nothing in two weeks. But I get people who sell soap wanting customers to have to come back fast. It’s definitely profitable like that.
