Okay - so first of all, I'm bothered by the mic-situation in this video too (so please don't give me stick for that), and I'm ordering a new one so I don't need to hold the frigging thing the whole time 🙃 More importantly: what did you take from this video? Leave your thoughts & comments below!

I found the video really informative and I agree with you that it’s not just about saying “if you don’t like your job, just leave”. I like the way you broke everything down.

Funny I kept thinking the mic was finger food. I expected you to take a bite whenever you gestured with your hands :-) Thank you for making these videos. I value your perspective. I scored “14” on the assessment. Been in the corporate world for 36 years -24 with my current company. Been burned out for probably 5yrs. I’m thinking a change is on the horizon. The company I work for is one of the best and I am surrounded by incredible people. They are the reason it is difficult to leave.

@@aztecforlife7360 "the mic was finger food" 👍😂 this made me laugh. Geez, sounds like you've been through the wringer - though I can understand that you're finding it hard to leave when you're working for a great company, and are being surrounded by incredible people. Perhaps you could start with trying to change a few of the things that you've given a low score? Wouldn't be surprised if you've already tried that, but if not... then that could be a short-term focus/solution? Hope change is on the horizon soon!! 5 years of burnout is tough... best of luck!

Yeah the mic was a potential let down... But the truth is it could have perfectly managed if there was no need to "casual coffee attitude" ... No offense intended, honestly !! Because it was more of the perception about the host's seriousness that impresses upon the audience...

Interesting. I scored 23 - but I’m a weird case in that I’ve been experiencing chronic illness for 3 years shortly after receiving a hard earned promotion at my corporate job (had other stressors going on in my life at the time too). I went out on disability but didn’t really recover. The only reason I’m still working at the company is because the pandemic forced us to work remotely. Long story short, I am still dealing with debilitating symptoms. I started working with a mindbody coach (after trying every therapy under the sun) and have come to learn that this is stress-related. A severe stress reaction related to childhood traumas. I have started to suspect that my job may be a big contributing factor, and have written my resignation letter. I thought I loved my job but my body is screaming otherwise. We’ve started returning back to the office in a limited basis and I barely made it through two days. I know that when I overcome this condition then I want to become a health coach also. That thought lights me up so much. But there are so many reasons why I haven’t submitted the letter. But I have a feeling that when I do, my health will improve dramatically.

Thanks for the self assessment. I scored 19, which makes sense with how I’ve been feeling- there isn’t a sense of urgency to quit right now, but I do know some things need to change or else that score might keep dropping over time.

Nice insight Vanessa! Quitting isn't always necessary - sometimes changing a few things can make a world of difference! Hope you're able to do exactly that, and feel excited about your job again. Thanks for sharing your result :)

My company are trying to keep me offering a manger position but I know with the work environment it's time to say no and leave and look for a new job in time.

Iris, respectfully, I think with this survey you only cover the "work" part of if you should leave the job? There are no questions about work-life balance, example- if the job allows you to do what you want after work, maybe a person loves it, but doesn't have energy for life after work...of job location, where they like the job, but dislike where the job is located

Scored a 13 but only because my job obviously gets a minimum of 1 on every question so 8 would be the baseline I guess. Would I be happier (emotionally and physically) if I quit, YES!! Do I have a financial safety net? Not really. I am the safety net which allows my wife to pursue things and not work.
@IrisSmyth2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing Eric. Perhaps not fantastic to get that outcome, but hopefully it just confirms what you already knew - that it's important to find a solution. Do you have an idea of what you'd like to do instead? Something similar? Something very different? Having a safety net is a luxury that a lot of people don't have, BUT I've seen time and time again that having a safety net isn't a necessity for leaving a job that's not right for you. You could think of contracting work, bridge jobs, good enough jobs - to name just a few things. Contracting is what a lot of my clients start doing as a first step, as it gives them more flexibility. Perhaps it could work for you too?

I live in a country where if you quit or get fired and you don't have a massive amount of $ saved, which takes many yrs to do - you quickly become homeless and die. Work decisions feel like life and death. Not based on how I feel about my job.
@IrisSmyth2 жыл бұрын
Geez, that sounds hectic. I appreciate the decision to quit isn't black and white, and that there are lots of influencing factors to take into account. Where do you live, if I may ask?
