(Mark) Thanks for the opportunity to share my story, guys. Final thoughts: It’s okay to be just a collector. Focus on the long-term passion for collecting rather than trying to profit from every card. Don’t let minor differences ruin big deals, and don’t let public commentary diminish your personal enjoyment of owning a rare card. The value of a card to you personally can’t always be measured by "comps" or market standards.

Love this, great thoughts Mark!

Every person who has a comment of you "over paying" for a card are the same people who don't keep a PC. They don't understand because if they did, they wouldn't make the comments. So silly, atta babes Mark ... great buy!!

love the passion by Mark on the Pasta card ... I PC Makar and my favorite card in my collection is not a rookie card, has no autograph, no memorabilia .... it's the 21-22 Allure Blue Line card /35 ... blue color match, "blue line" the position he plays, card number 8 in the set; his jersey number, and the card is 8/35 as well (again his jersey number) and it's just a great looking card

Great card!

Thank you... Your Makar sounds like a fantastic PC card that checks many subtle boxes that add to the rarity and enjoyment... Beauty!

In the conversation about Mackinnon and holding certain cards waiting for something to bump them up, I'm thinking that the NHL's return to the Winter Olympics will be a huge opportunity for younger players who never had that opportunity to possibly make a big hobby leap.

That's not a bad thought at all. Can't wait for the NHL return to the Olympics!

I think the reason Troy is so in love with "Day with the Pup" is because there is no Upper Deck logo anywhere to be seen! 😂

If people are willing to over pay for a card it’s probably ok if they understand that in the long run that there odds of breaking even or making money are low and chances are high on losing money.
@hockeycardsgongshow2 ай бұрын
Good way to look at it.

Yep, certainly agree with that; acquiring cards only for profit is just one of the many ways to participate and enjoy the hobby. Some people never sell cards, only buy/collect...

Fans at Heart should have Zigmund Palffy and Travis Green, when Palffy kissed Green after a goal. I’d think the Pastrnak card would’ve sold around $1800 to $2000. I think people sometimes tell themselves “wow, for $2700 I could buy a McDavid PSA 10” or “with $2700 I’d rather buy a box of 05-06 SPA”. I feel as if that’s where the majority of “that’s high for this card” comments come from. I do it myself as well… especially for that Bure sale!

The Bourque card was my card before in the Raybourquecardcollection. I think Bourque signs quite alot to be honest but his card price versus players with less accomplishments are cheaper for some reason. I think Bourque did more than Lidstrom with 70% less talent around him. Just check who was the second best defenseman he ever played with in Boston...Except three years of a healthy Neely and the additions of Oates, those lineup were bad. He anchored those teams.
