Nothing stops the worldly and/or physical repercussions of sin. That said; I have forgiven all for anything that has to do with me personally, and guess what? Heavenly things put aside, it made me feel better! No longer burdened with anger and feelings of wanting revenge, I feel free! I leave justice to God.

Amen. People are all too willing to hear that they can judge whether someone is allowed to be forgiven or not. It's too hard to let go, so someone telling them they don't have to is like someone turning the lights off in your room before you go go sleep. You get to keep your comfort, and they get to say they've shown somebody love and care. The oven is still on, the water is still running in the sink, and the house you're living in isn't yours, but at least you get to be comfortable. It ain't worth it.

Listening to a full teaching he has on this subject and he’s not saying to hold on to bitterness. We forget that forgiveness is a legal transaction not just an emotional state of mind. We can’t legally in Gods economy forgive someone for a sin that they haven’t repented of but we can and need to release it emotionally and determine to be WILLING to forgive as soon as they repent. Even then, repentance takes time to reveal its authenticity.

@Sam Lee Do you really think that God is that poor? Or have you forgotten that his mercy endureth forever? I would ask you what mercy he is talking about. I would then answer that it is the same mercy that allows God and Christ in God and God in Christ to make a path of forgiveness even though we did not want it. To guide us into it even though we did not know to look for it or even ask. God started all of this, this whole process of being sanctified and glorified, FOR FREE. Nobody in the kingdom of heaven pays for anything. Or, if you would hear, Jesus tells us in Matthew go literally give freely what we have freely recieved. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8 It is a special type of blindness that allows one to refer go any legal transaction in a kingdom of liberty. He specifically says that we are no longer under the law. So how can you refer to laws and transactions as though you are forgiven because you repented. God didn't forgive you for your sake but for Christ's sake. That's the only reason you will even speak the name of God. God is much more holy than you know.

I had a head injury too. It was like dying. The old me was just not there. Things changed. I lost most of my friends and 'family'. I almost shot myself one day. My life was a shambles for years, during which I prayed that God take my life every night when I went to bed, that I might not see another day. Then I ran across Arnold Murray on KZbin. I had never heard of anyone just reading through the Bible and trying to explain it along the way. I read and studied with the aim to either KNOW it was the Word of God or throw it in the trash. Years on, He has slowly healed me, my relationships, and is now moving to teach me the wisdom of some of the knowledge I have learned. It's hard being broken on the inside, especially if we look fine on the outside. Jesus is going to get you through, brother. Just a little longer yet and we'll be home with Him. I pray that He be glorified mightily in your sufferings! May your reward be great in Heaven!

Well, I guess I'M in trouble then, 'cause I USED to help out my cousin whom I USED to play music in my band with. I helped him expecting NOTHING in return, except MAYBE a little gratitude, when one day, I trusted him and left him alone inside of my garage for a few minutes, where most of my tools AND my late father-in-law's tools were kept. When I returned, he sure was in a hurry to leave my property, so I helped him load some of his belongings that I was trying to help him repair in my garage, BACK into his truck and he quickly left. But, when I turned around to put my tools away, I noticed my olms meter that we were using to test his amplifiers was missing when I was putting my tools away. I called him up and asked him if he knew where it was. He quickly answered that he didn't, (yet it was sitting directly in the area where we were working in my garage and was NOWHERE to be found when I looked SPECIFICALLY for it), but then he quickly hung up. I, at that moment, made the decision to cut ALL TIES to him, since it was obvious that he DID take it WITHOUT asking me, THEN LIED to me for taking it. I don't understand how I'm supposed to forgive a THIEF so easily, 'cause when he stole from me, he ALSO was stealing from my ability to use my tool to support my family, not to mention, WHAT ELSE he may have stolen from my late father-in-law's tool boxes? He has NEVER came clean and admitted that he stole from me, NOR has he APOLOGIZED for taking it from me. I'm not sure how to deal with this now. AND, I've already spoken of this to my other family and friends about the theft and why I cut him out of my connections. ☹️

I enjoy watching your sermons online. It’s been something I’ve practiced for years with many different pastors during the course of my life. I’ve tried going to church and I don’t fit in there, I never felt comfortable. So listening to different sermons online replaced churches in buildings. I am also a private person and dislike chaos or violence. Home and Jesus are my safe place to be. The world can judge me, but Jesus knows my heart. He knows what I’ve done and what I haven’t done. He also knows what I’ve been falsely accused of. To those people I forgive and leave in Jesus hands. So I don’t pay much attention to most people. I live my life and make the best out of what comes my way. I pray for guidance from Jesus and continue to move forward. I forgive and it’s not my place to judge, I wasn’t there and I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Therefore, I see nothing, I know nothing. So many these days are falsely accused of things that didn’t happen. I am not risking hurting another human being on rumors. Church leaders should keep that in mind as they unit to judge those they are in communion with.

You should always forgive. There’s no point mulling over someone who hurt you for the rest of your life. It’s a decision that you must make before the Lord, and your feelings will follow in time. The key is that sometimes forgiveness involves reconciliation (that’s where you need to be careful), and many times it involves emancipation- cut them free and have nothing to do with them - separate from evil as Christians are always called to do. There’s a good video called “Two Levels of Forgiveness “ here on KZbin by Smakintosh I highly recommend.

@Peter R I like your take but I have a question for you or anyone who can answer this. Are you supposed to forgive someone who doesn't ask for forgiveness? I do know we are to ask our heavenly father to forgive us if we want forgiveness so I'm wondering if the same rules apply?
@psalmistinprogress9089

I concur. You release the matter to the Lord, praying for their salvation, but knowing they fully deserve and will receive righteous judgment if they refuse to repent. As it pertains to worldly punishment, you may need to see it through even then to protect others and to put the fear of God into others who may consider doing the same. To tolerate sin is to be party to it. You endanger the weaker souls by making it look too easy to sin.
@kennethknott9138
@kennethknott9138 Жыл бұрын
You said, " The key is that sometimes forgiveness...involves emancipation- cut them free and have nothing to do with them." Breaking free and having nothing more to do with someone can, in fact, be biblical, but that is NOT forgiveness. There are NO biblical examples of forgiveness being equated with emancipation or ostracization or anything polar to reconciliation. Call it something else, but it not forgiveness. Biblical forgiveness, as modeled by Christ Jesus, always results in reconciliation or restoration.
@Idiopathogen
@Idiopathogen Жыл бұрын
@@kennethknott9138 I’m not talking about ostracizing anyone. Sometimes you need to ostracize yourself, like David hiding from Saul in the cave of Adullam. Jesus Himself was rejected, crucified, and said “forgive them for they know not what they do.” He left physically though and is seated at the right hand of God until his enemies be made His footstool. That’s different though because the Lord can and will take vengeance. I love how David showed mercy to Saul’s offspring when they expected vengeance as in Mephibosheth. Forgiveness means you don’t make plans or hold desire for retribution.
@kennethknott9138
@kennethknott9138 Жыл бұрын
@@Idiopathogen According to 1 Cor. 5:9-13, there is a definite place for ostracizing certain people who call themselves Christians but are living in certain, chronic sin. As for your reference to Jesus on the cross, I believe you may be missing a couple of important points: Consider both Jesus and Stephen's plea to God on the cross as it related to forgiveness... 1) Note that neither Jesus nor Stephen cried out that they forgave their adversaries - rather they asked God to. However, God did not, in-fact, forgive the complicit crowds in either case. Only some of their adversaries were eventually forgiven, but only after they repented before God. In the case of Stephen's death, Acts 8:1 says Saul consented to his death, and we know he was not in-fact forgiven until much time later. 2) ...So, it is clear that both Jesus and Stephen expressed a willingness and desire for their adversaries to be forgiven, but their adversaries were not, in-fact, forgiven. There is a big difference. 3) Jesus could have easily said "I forgive you, all!" After all, He was God incarnate. He forgave only one thief on the cross who turned to him, but not the other. As for the crowd, he prayed that God would one day forgive them. Again, there is a big difference. 4. In every single case biblically where God forgives, there is a move on the part of the sinner toward right relationship. Yes, every single case. 5. True, godly forgiveness always results in some form of restored relationship - it takes two or more willing parties. 6. Luke 17:3-4 makes it clear that forgiveness is conditional upon repentance. This is modeled by Jesus Christ, without exception. 7. Therefore, the admonishment to forgive must be in context of two or more willing participants. As ambassadors of Christ, we must be willing to forgive, but it is literally impossible to "wish" or somehow mentally impute forgiveness upon an unwilling participant. Doing so is redefining forgiveness and is wrong.

I like the example of someone owing $100 that he or she borrowed. The lender forgives them in that there is no more expectation of repayment. However, *it does not mean* that the lender should continue to lend to that person until the $100 dollars has been repaid because the trust is broken and it cannot be restored until the money has been repaid in full. The same should therefore logically apply to intentional disrespect. One should forgive that person who was intentionally disrespectful, but by the same principle the *trust* was broken, and therefore one should exclude that person from their company because they can no longer be trusted to not continue the disrespect. But if they ask for forgiveness, then forgive that person 7 times 70 times and restore trust in them.

I think understanding that we ourselves have many trespasses against others (and God), many we don't even realize because of our own nature, then it makes it easier to forgive others. But when we think of ourselves as something great and mighty, it is easy to look at others, judge them, and refuse to forgive them because we can't understand how others can be so flawed.

I have a question. I agree with you and thank you for your wisdom. My question is about the example you use of a murderer at the end. We are not to forgive him. That is one side of the story. Let's say hypothetically that he does repent for his sins. God is faithful and will forgive him. The blood of Jesus does and will wash him clean just as His blood cleanses us all. Do you agree? To take this example to the extreme, I believe that Hitler would be forgiven if he was truly repentant. I don't think he was repentant but if he was, he too would be saved. Let's say that the man in this story went on to live in the community and attended church. He went on to grow in faith and show fruits of his conversion. It would be right in my opinion that he be accepted as a brother. Let's say that in the church there are parents of the children who were murdered. This man has trespassed against them and as crushing and terrible as this scenario is, I think that the parents should forgive the man. I would like to know your take on this. Thank you Mr. Pearl.

Thank you for this video, I just realized I've been living in hypocrisy based on what you've pointed out. If my own church has fornicators or those who are living in known sin in it, then you cannot be part of that company as a believer/brother. I've been attending church for the last few months and there's an unmarried couple who are living in fornication almost certainly. Now I am living in disobedience to keep company with them by attending the same church. Now I must address this first with the couple to determine if they are living in sin first, then I'll have to bring it to the pastor's attention. If everything plays out like I think it will, then I'll have to end up leaving the church when the pastor inevitably tells me to overlook it.

GOD knows your heart, HE doesn't need your words, or emotions, tears, or lies, or excuses. Judgement will come to all as they merit it, people do change and Jesus paid the price for our salvation, but the truth is not hidden from God and He will exact justice as He alone can.

Isn't it a requirement for the person who trespasses to repent his trespasses? Otherwise someone can mock you every day and never change because you forgive the person and the person never has consequences and therefore never get the chance to change.

@nin.d5265 You have one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs in the world. You get to represent Christ to a loved one from now until the Lord comes back. By walking in the fear of the Lord and displaying the beauty of holiness in your home your husband will come to know the goodness of God through your fellowship. I heard a testimony last night of a lady who had done that for 40 years before her husband came to Christ on his deathbed. She said because of her steadfastness in the Lord she would see her husband rejoicing with her throughout eternity. It will be hard, don't lose hope. The Lord is with you and cheering you on, so are we! Take some time to read over these scriptures and hide them in your heart. May God bless you and may his face shine upon you. 1 Corinthians 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Your brother in Christ, Nathan Pearl

I have ppl in my life I have trouble with forgiving that’s why we have the Holy Spirit, we can’t do it in flesh alone. Love your enemies Jesus said he didn’t say hang out with them, you can love from a distance. The Bible encourages you to stay away from those kinds of people, vengeance is mine says the Lord. Isaiah 53:11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Zechariah 13:1 On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness. Jeremiah 31:34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. Isaiah 43:25 I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 44:22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you. Isaiah 40:11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. John 7:37-38 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. Isaiah 58:11 And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Jeremiah 31:12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. Isaiah 35:10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.

We have a situation where an adult “friend” who claimed to be a Christian, raped my 13 year old child over 120 times. Our family was completely destroyed because of this. He is not repentant as he has blamed the mother and one of the adult sons (who was his friend) for his evil deeds. The mother was caring for her dying mother and grieving dad while all of this was going on. She discovered what was happening 17 days after she buried her mom. The rapist has filed reports against the family in an attempt to blame us instead of himself. My family was completely innocent and in the dark during those 11 weeks. After the police report was filed he began tormenting the family, as soon as he got out of jail. He even hacked our Amazon account and obtained our new address as we had moved to try and hide from him. Although we had a protection order the police and victims advocate did nothing to help us. Now the family no longer lives together and total destruction has occurred. Even so much as the stress was more than the dad could handle and he suffered 6 strokes, has a brain tumor, is in end stage kidney failure, and had a slight heart attack. I will not forgive this man for what he has done to us.

You used the words, 'there are sins that God does not forgive' ; the only sin (singular) that God said he does not forgive is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, Not theft, sexual sins, or even murder are unforgiveable, assuming a person repents and believes the Gospel before their death (born again). If God was willing to forgive David for Murder, fornication, and other sins, he will forgive any person that is willing to believe the Gospel and receive God's free gift. The sin that will send you to hell is unbelief. John 3:18 (KJV) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. So you see it is you failure to believe, trust in Christ finished work that separates you from God, Jesus has already dealt with all of your sins on the cross by his shed blood. Only your stubborn refusal to trust him and believe prevents his payment from being applied to your account. Trust in Christ for your salvation and rest from the impossible task of trying to earn your way into heaven.

We should forgive if the person trully repents (turn away from the sins and towards Jesus). My wife brother in law had made advances towards to her 9 years when he was new to the country and we welcomed him into our home. Of course once I found out I told him to leave. However after all these years of bitterness for him I am trying to put those harsh feelings for him aside. Him and I are actually speaking and spend time together. However that does not mean I 💯 trust him but want to get along with him so the rest of our families can meet. Even my children and his children don't know what happened all those years ago.

Is not all sin equal? If not all sin being equal in value, the wages of sin, being death, is not all sin against our Heavenly Father, honestly? Yes, my ex has done all sorts of things I struggle right now trying to forgiver her of : there is no remorse, no regret, no repentance, an no asking for my forgiveness. In discussing this with other elders, I have been told all of a man's sins are either washed by the Blood of the Lamb, Forgiven and forgotten by the Father, or made known to all on Judgement Day, and those who died in their sin shall be cast into the lake of fire... SO.. What does MY forgiving of others who aren't asking for it, compare to our Father's Grace, when, again, she isn't seeking redemption nor restoration? What do I do?

I think your interpretation of 1 Corinthians 5:5 is inaccurate. I believe they were commanded to throw him out of the church and over to Satan, in “hopes” that his spirit might be saved. The destruction of the flesh is talking about the consequences of what sin will do to his flesh. I believe the church hoped that the torment would be so great, that this man would turn back to Jesus.

I made a similar point last video and someone told me straight up, like you can't compare that to humans and I was like umm, yes I can and did. Glad you proved me right. Lol. Look at what God does and tells us of Himself in the Bible, all of it and then discern the processes He follows if you are His followers. Otherwise you try to make God in your or our image and we are trying to out forgive God and that's pride and literally doing what made us unable as humans to stay in Garden of Eden, using our own ideas if good and evil instead of God's which is why we need to repent and change our minds to accept His judgements and ways, even if we don't fully understand why or how...that's what FAith is right? It's a sin to forgive what God doesn't or in a way God doesn't because it is not a godly forgiveness. God requires contrite heart, confessions of it and repentance. Satan is in the secrets and Lies and puffed up pride of the sin. Got to get that out to get the mercy and grace and forgiveness but God has it waiting and Jesus made sure it's sufficient to cover or basically is paid in full. God has crowns for certain things so He does keep a sort of awareness. Sometimes NOT getting something is a punishment or judgement too. Anyhow I basically said God says He will defeat Satan and fallen angels and those who worship them. Are we to preach He is going to forgive them when He says He isn't? It's a new ager false idea of Jesus I think because they don't want to accept the Jesus who flipped tables at temple and who will return and have an army, us basically, that will destroy almost everything. It sounds like we terra form the earth almost and that doesn't jive with some " believers" who act like God stopped being Old Testament style, when He is same always and NOT a Liar. Was and is and Is to come, Alpha and Omega. If it's in the Bible it's in there for a reason.

@@laurawhite4118 am I missing something, all were given great honors from God and he expected a lot even though they were all technically responsible for the murders of people. It's because they were close to God and God saw each of them deeply repent and knew their hearts and saw their devotion to that repentance. Maybe Uriah's family didn't forgive David nor some of David's own sons or wife Abigail, obviously Pharaoh didn't forgive and Apostles had a hard time trusting Paul, but it appears God did based on scripture. We know though Paul still had a "thorn in his side" he was stoned to and had like a mini rapture and sent back to yet still minister for a long while, despite the statement that he was ready to go like many of us are as Rapture/ End times appears closer. I really think you don't understand what we were talking about or maybe scripture in that God has a process and we must honor and use His process and not create our own. He says if a brother or spouse or someone who is supposed to be of same faith sins against you you are to go to them three times trying to get it resolved and hope that they repent and make amends and each time you step it up by bringing elders with Authority who can advocate better and try to reach the offender. After three earnest attempts it is not on you and God commands you treat that person like a pagan and move on, very similar to how Jesus told the pairs of disciples like 70 or maybe it was 72, to go out and spread the gospel but if they found places that were stubborn or worse, to dust off their sandals and think no more on it and keep moving and speaking to others. Basically the instruction is to GIVE them to God. Let Him handle it. You tried and now you move forward and let God deal with them and if they come back and ask forgiveness great, if not, then it's between them and God. These things are in the Bible, the same Bible Jesus knew perfectly because He was that word made Flesh and had authority to explain it and teach it and live it. He still was a Jew but He came to minister and offer salvation and grace unto the sinners which included Gentiles, Jews who had broken commandments and oh yeah everyone who falls short which means everyone who accepts His sacrifice. He made things clear like greatest command is what all the ten are based on, Love thy Lord your God with all your mind, soul and strength or mind, body and soul depending g on translation. Once we do that, all the other commandments and processes become very easy to follow and Holy Spirit guides us easier too.

Yeah so the two factors here are judgement against the body in this world and judgement regarding afterlife... Is this person contaminating the group? Then the best long term answer if to kick him to the curb only as far as the flesh or body is concerned, however if they claim to be in Christ let them reap what they've sown in this life but pass on to eternal life! The thing is people get self righteous by nature and automatically have a tendency to see in other their own issues but really glorified! It's part of our wiring! Remember there are levels to God's laws and commandments and chief above all is Love.
