I will always say this: locs are character building. Can you stick with them when they are ugly, can you persevere through the days when people are telling you they don’t seem to be your “look”? Start your locs and prepare to question what you value about yourself and your concepts of beauty, muscle through to that day you wake up to say, “ huh, my hair looks good today, I really look good today”. That day will be fantastic.

I am 3 months in and the ugly stage is really breaking me down. I am definitely in this for the long haul so I’m looking forward to the part when I begin to feel like my dreads are building me back up.

Shahee Sharief, I feel you. My kids were in a school when I had started my locks, one of the teachers made a gesture from across a room like she was saying, “ What is up with your hair?” I had to take my kids out of that school, but a year later I was back in the neighborhood and re-enrolled them. That same teacher was across the room giving me a thumbs up sign. Locs are character building, cause that ugly stage is rough, but one day you wake up and suddenly your hair is just like you always wanted it.

Hey my name is Britain and I'm a professional Tekken player from Las Vegas. I definitely understand how you felt when you was down. This year was the worst year of my life. I like twists but will NOT keep them in my head forever (2 months) I take my hair "down" after about 2 to 3 weeks. Congratulate me for that because I used to wash my hair every 2 days! I have the sponge hairstyle and it lasts long enough, ie 2 to 3 weeks. Love this informative video ♥️.

Man, I’ve had dreads before. I’m planning on getting them again. Right now, I am using the sponge method right now until it gets longer. My only problem I think I’ll have is me sweating every day. I live in Florida, plus I work outside all day. As of now, I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to deal with that. I’m from California. I NEVER had that sweating problem 😂. It’s the humidity out here. As of now, I’d say my hair is about an inch right now. My plan is to wait until December, or January when the temperature drops. I’m definitely looking forward to it. My wife DEFINITELY don’t want me to grow them back 😂. She’s white so🤷🏽♂️. I’m growing them for my 12 year old daughter. Mainly because she saw my old pictures of me with dreads. She loved it. And of course I’m doing it for myself. So excited🤙🏽.
