Been there in all seasons, never mind the weather. Since I don't like huge crowds I avoid August and vacation times alltogether. Will be back in 5 weeks and hope for an early spring. Have a good sunday!!

Thanks for the top tips ! , humidity is never really an issue in Edinburgh , it is not warm enough ! , you are so right about May , it is usually the most reliable month for some nice weather along with September , but that can be more hit & miss unless there is a rare 'Indian summer' when we can get warm & sunny days ( up to 20 degrees celsius ) into October !. As they say , there is no such thing as bad weather , just the wrong type of clothing !!! ;-)

If you are going to buy a single use barbecue, and use in the meadows, please use responsibly, put it on some stones and make sure it's out before you put it in a bin. Walked past a bin on fire a few years ago and nothing worse than lots of black squares in the grass. Oh yeah, and the Royal Highland show is really cool :-)

I agree that May And October can be great months in Edinburgh but also in Scotland generally. The weather can be really nice but the city is not too busy. I was amazed at you finding Edinburgh too humid in the summer. I used to live there and my job meant flying up and down to London quite regularly. I used to love disembarking at the airport and experiencing how fresh the air was compared to London.
@Kakibot4 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right that summer is a lot more oppressive in other, bigger cities down south - Prague can be really bad too for most of the summer, humidity and heavy air and 30 something degrees most days! So... It's possible that I just don't like summer air anywhere at all .D

Nicely presented review. I can appreciate similarities between Prague and Edinburgh (city of my birth). A few years ago we had a weekend in Prague where we had the year’s weather covered: I still remember having to wear polythene bags over my socks to keep the rain out! But Edinburgh rocks! Which is a confectionary you can also purchase. The tree-lined Meadows are wonderful. I KZbind a bicycle protest starting there a couple of years ago: we started in pouring rain and finished outside Parliament in brilliant sunshine which lasted all the way up Arthur’s Seat. I can’t wait to be free again to make the 60 min trip from Glasgow to the capital.

I have visited in both September and October and I found September to be ideal. Things are still open and you aren’t the only tourist but it’s calmer. October was a tad too cold

Last year my wife and I went to Edinburgh in both September and December. September the weather was amazing as you said, and I really enjoyed it. December wasn't bad though, the regular popular stuff (Royal Mile, etc.) were not as crowded, but the Christmas Market was definitely busy, as were most of the shops in that area (Princes Street).

Great video! I loved the late sunsets in June. We were advised by friends to avoid August because of the crowds. I had wanted to go in April or maybe next time in autumn (I’ll skip November, ha). We found Scotland weather, despite some wind, to be really nice, compared to here, the Mid-Atlantic humidity here in the US, it’s vile. So thick and hot. I also love those Starbucks mugs!
@Kakibot4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, overall I love Edinburgh weather a lot more than Prague weather too - especially these last couple of years when Prague jumps from summer to winter without any of those pleasant in between seasons! And perhaps it's also that Edinburgh is such a 'small townish city' so you don't get all the extra heat and pollution of regular large cities in the summer!

Visited last year in July, will be back this year in July again and want to visit next year in August. I really enjoyed my summer days in Edinburgh but I also was confused what to wear. 😅 I didn't mind all those people in the city during my vacation. The year before I went to Prague in summer and with those tiny streets and all those peoples on the bridges I was way more stressed at the tourist spots in Prague compared to Edinburgh. Maybe because the locals in Edinburgh where very friendly so the vibe is much more chilled in general.
@edwardsjarje2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a great comparison. I’ve been to Prague in July for the Proms and I found it to be delightful but crowded in certain areas. I’m glad to know Edinburgh won’t be quite as busy.

I'm going in early april, so I hope the weather will be reasonably allright. So you have any suggestions on cool and genuine places to buy souvenirs?
@Kakibot4 жыл бұрын
Try Cranachan & Crowdie on the Royal Mile or Paper Tiger on Lothian rd - the former has a lot of great food souvenirs (but some non-edible goodies too) , the latter stocks nice Scottish design goods and gifts alongside cards and other stationery!

Hello! Thank you for being such a loyal watcher .) Personally I really enjoyed Inverness - but I'd say that's the perfect spot for someone who is quite introverted + wants to be close to the highlands and lochs! Glasgow on the other hand is the place for big city lovers, and it has more job opportunities and "general city stuff" going on than Edinburgh .)

At this point we are all in such a mystery limbo that it's really hard to tell - I would check with your insurance company/airline and see how long you can wait to see how the situation develops. At this point I wouldn't recommend any travel between now and end of May, July might work with some optimism, so perhaps give it a month or so to see where this is all going.
