Your loose watercolors re beautiful. Love your muted palette and watching you paint. Wondering about the grey handled, very pointed round brush you use in this video and in several others. What brand is it? What size? What a point!

I.ve long been an advocate of loose watercolour, and a follower of Ron Ranson, Seen loads of videos - made loads too, but I absolutely love the simplicity of your work and the direct nature of your teaching. I'll be working my way through your back catalogue now. The brushes that you use; are they sable, synthetic or squirrel/pony? I love the points yet they hold so much

Thanks Keith. The smaller brush is a synthetic escoda perla size 14 and the larger is I think squirrel escoda ultima size 14. I have used sable and they are wonderful too. I like the escoda as they are good quality but fairly inexpensive to can be replaced when the point goes. I paint a lot! I love Ron Ranson watercolours too, very loose. Thanks for watching. Rob

Wonderful. Easy execution of a difficult task. Hats off to you. What colours were mixed for the tree and the shurbs ? It will help us if the name of the colours are shown side by side, or may be at the bottom . Just a suggestion. Thank you

My materials video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4uwqIeapaaJb5I I wouldn't know what colours I used, without careful study of the video and then it would be a best guess because of left over paint in the well. What I am suggesting is that I believe it is almost Impossible to paint loose watercolours and be concerned with what colours to use. It would slow you down too much. Worry about the tonal value and the temperature which are important. I talk about this all the time in my videos. Thanks for watching.

Was that Alizarin Crimson you added to Ultramarine blue to darken it up from the first wash?

I believe I mixed burnt sienna with the blue, but there are endless combinations of colours you can mix to get a dark. The tonal value is what is important.

Not so easy on 90lb paper, but possible. 140lb paper is more forgiving I find.
