Can't echo the "be nice to tradespeople" comment enough. I had 3 joiners and 2 sparkies in replacing the windows in my house and fitting a new db a few months ago. I moved the mini fridge from my office into the living room and everyday we made sure it was filled with milk and snacks for them. Came back one night to find out they had not only finished the job to an exceptional standard but had also fixed a couple of faults they had found and also put up the blind and curtains in the babies room for nothing. I've hired them all abck several times for more jobs.

@@corymac yeah that'd be fun to do. I watch a lot of solar videos but haven't seriously crunched the numbers yet. I have just been trying to think of an adjustable and preferably portable solar panel mounting system that will be more decorative than a normal solar panel setup. Lots of my neighbors BBQ, so if I could make a patio that is shaded (with solar panels) and has storage (for LiFePO4, inverters, etc.), I am 95% certain that the neighbors would be impressed instead of annoyed at how it looks from the street. Only 1 neighbor who I have never met has a DIY solar setup for years now consisting of toddler strollers (buggies).

Solar diversion is great, use it myself, but typically it gives you hot water at the end of the day. That might not suit when the household uses most hot water. With battery and solar diverter you can dump from battery > water overnight/early morning. So you get hot water for morning showers and a battery with low SoC ready to soak up day time watts. Can also employ a technique where you start dumping to water before hitting 100% SoC. On a sunny day with a large system a solar diverter can't consume all excess.
@corymac7 ай бұрын
It’s a good tip, although I find my tank is so insulated, once heated it lasts ages!
@Koopris7 ай бұрын
Yeah they hold their heat well. Lots of factors: tank size, usage patterns. Hard part is the interaction with the gas boiler so the system as a whole can make the most of excess solar.
