I’ve been studying narcissism for 5 years now after leaving my husband of 28 years. After I left , I was feeling freedom and peace for about a year until the trauma bonding phase (among the other phases you must go through to eventually come out the other side) hence a nervous breakdown occurred. I wanted to die. I didn’t know who I was. I’d forgotten myself. My message to all is don’t give up. It’s like peeling an onion. One layer at a time. It’s painful yes but God gives us the strength. Just ask Him! Jesus heals! “ Come to me all ye who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you strength “ -Jesus

So grateful for leaving after 4 decades of the monster’s abuse. The monster is now 75 years old but thinks he still has game. His toupee is crooked because I am not there to tell him it is misplaced, he walks sideways from back issues, he had a bone marrow transplant 4 years ago (I nursed him through it all saving his life twice) and this cancer is bound to reappear, he is disgusting driving around in his viper and corvette that he can’t even exit from because the cars are so low to the ground, it is an awful sight to behold and I am here for it. Don’t know if he has snared some unsuspecting victim yet (and I don’t care) but I do know I am a difficult act to follow as my codependency was top notch and I was his perfect mother. What do we need? Education. Time to just be and work on ourselves. What does a narc need? Can’t answer that as it shifts constantly, they aren’t satisfied ever. No housing or vehicles or vacation or whatever will satisfy their relentless need to ride off in the sunset. Find it interesting these were the chosen words as the ex narc used that very phrase on social media to describe what they planned to do just before discarding me because I said no to their poor treatment of me. Andrew your so right, the ex a malignant narc was such a cruel mean man. I left him after years of abuse and torture and his words to me were you were never good enough. He completely destroyed our children, they have missed opportunities of going to university as they were trauma bonded and he left us with huge debts while he was living a great life with his new wife and new baby. Five years later he comes back future faking the children again playing victim that he was betrayed by every one and now he says he in a marriage with someone he doesn't want to be with and he doesn't spend any time with the child. She is not what he thought she would be. I am writing this for all those going through a difficult situation, Andrew is absolutely correct when he says the narc has not found anything better but in actual fact worse and it kills them. The narc's favourite motto now I've lost my family, I lost everything that was good in my life. Pure sweet justice.

Being turned into a Mother figure by the Narcissist is creepy and disturbing. Who wants to be that for a grown man you're in a romantic relationship with? I never met his mother but he always spoke about her in a negative way. He admitted to lying to her, controlling her with money and leaving her when he was 15 (that may not have been true, who knows, but says a lot). I will never forget him recounting one of his "woe is me" tales about his childhood, him criticizing her for not buying an expensive toy he wanted (even though she was a single mother of 5 at the time with little money). He said "What a BITCH!!" and did a horrid laugh. It really shook me up. He was a complete misogynist.

They seem to either want to be mothered or to be a parent to you, but never an equal partner. 🙄
@JH-td4mn Жыл бұрын
@@cc1k435 💯. It's because they live their childhood through their relationships. Professor Sam Vaknin talks about their need to individuate from their mother figure over and over again when they devalue and discard people. But it doesn't work.
@freebird968-wg4ye Жыл бұрын
@@cc1k435 Yes! I couldn’t understand it. There was this underlying feeling that he was treated me like a little girl. But he also wanted a mother figure? A therapist told me about Transactional Analysis (Eric Berne). We can all be in one of 3 ego states. Parent / Adult / Child. This is continually changing as to what’s going on around us. We aim to be in Adult mode interacting with other adults with mutual respect. Parent mode can be ‘Controlling’ or ‘Nurturing’. Child mode has 3 divisions, ‘Free child’ (enjoying activities, free, not a care in the world) Rebellious child (all rage comes from rebellious child (!)) Adapted child (not free, has to adapt to the situation to get through, dims their light). In a diagram of 3 vertical circles (this is you , top is parent, next is adult, bottom is child. The circles are divided and labelled with the substates). Parallel is another 3 circles labelled. This is another person. We aim to be interacting as adults where we think “I’m ok and you’re ok”. From both parties therefore an arrow would go back and forward horizontally between the two ‘adult’ circles. When one party tries to control the other they’ve gone out of adult and into controlling parent. The arrow (of power/energy) now goes from their parent to your adult. (They’re in a superior position ) Eventually you may go into adapted child (shut down) or even rebellious child yourself (reactive abuse? Or maybe passive aggressive?).The arrow now is from their top right to your bottom left. By their behaviour they’ve pushed you to react and move ego states and not operate in true adult mode. When they are raging that’s all from Rebellious child mode. This has helped understand the ‘nice/nasty’ confusion (there were thoughtful actions throughout the relationship - on the surface nurturing parent mode). It’s also pinpointed my ‘adapted child’ programming from childhood which is my responsibility to process and heal. Sorry this is long but it might be of interest to folks. 🙂🌸❤

@@JH-td4mn Interesting stuff. Helps to get your head round the dynamics (with difficulty in the post narc fog! But it’s becoming clearer.). It would be easy to have compassion for someone who is so troubled. But that ship has sailed. Vaknin says that if you show ‘feeling sorry’ for the Narc they look down on you and just see you as weak. They’re basically laughing at you. Blessings on the healing journey. ❤

“they were not honest, they were not genuine.” yeah, there was no authenticity. it was all fake. love bombing, jealousy induction, emotional manipulation, if/then conditionals when i confronted her (if you stay angry we wont get to the fun stuff), future faking, emotional invalidation, digging comments against me, calling me “crazy” when i responded to her silent treatments by pursuing harder. it was so confusing for me, once the fog lifted (after two months of interacting with her) i began asking people online if i was abused and manipulated, and they confirmed with me that indeed, she was manipulating me. it hurts bad, but shes blocked now. i unblocked her three times when i got weak, but im getting stronger every day. praise God. i asked God for help in this, because i was at my wit’s end. God gave me the wisdom to block her, and guided me to the right people to educate me and help me stay strong in this situation.

The narcissist tried really hard to get me back into that trap. He tried alot of manipulation tactics. When he really hit the bottom and realized I wasn't going to go back into his snares of abuse. He became very ill with prostate cancer and kidney failure 😢. He found a new source of supply and she became the caregiver, servant and mommy. She fell for it. Then she started doing less and less for him. He requested that she come to my home and ask me to go visit him. The narcissist fell asleep in death in his own home by himself. Yes, it did come crashing down for him.

Wow, just wow!! This makes sense, in more ways than one. One thing i noticed is he stopped being physically intimate with me when I told him I was pregnant. In hindsight, he must have realized that would mean less narcissistic supply from me, since my energy would then be shared with someone else, (his own daughter. I think the thought of losing ANY of my attention was a "no-no" for him. I have learned so much from amazing people like yourself! Its also how i came to the realization he's a covert narcissist, because i Googled all the things he does on a daily basis towards me, and my children, which includes his own daughter! She is now 6 yrs old, and we have a restraining order, (domestic violence) against him for me and my children, including our 6 yr old, plus we're in the middle of getting divorced. We can't get out fast enough, for obvious reasons. God bless you and thanks again my friend! ❤ 🙏 😊

Delete them, their friends, and any groups you may have joined together. They know you’re watching, so they put on the show. Don’t watch. Block their emails. High filters, friends only-step up all settings. Sometimes the most dangerous time with one of these types is after it’s over. Protect yourself! And if you think the ex is happy with their new supply, just remember how much you suffered. When you were graced with one good day, one good love bombing, weren’t you all smiles too? Of course! It was a relief to be treated decent for once. If they know you’re watching, they plan this stuff out. Love bomb the new supply so they’re smiling and glowing in the pics. Plan a trip somewhere you wanted to go to really piss you off. They are master manipulators, make no mistake. Don’t torture yourself, don’t bother. Then you’re still allowing them to abuse you by proxy-YOU.
