"Alright, recover, go around. Alright, this time you're gonna do it like I tell you to do it". Wow! That kid's got spunk! I LIKE HIM! :D Great video, Ted. 51 years old and 15 hours into my PPC. Might get my first solo soon. Thanks for all your inspiring content.

Great video as always! Thanks for sharing this experience and the reminder to stay current--especially when you aren't flying regularly.

Soft field takeoffs - that brings back memories, as I was also in a C-152. At 23N, it was everything you did, but an additional vX before vY to clear the trees, and then level off at 600 to stay under ISP Class Charlie. For right now, I'm living vicariously through Ted. Very cool that you do these videos. 5:11 - Wow!!! That was awesome, and an example of the standards needed/required/demanded for Pilot-in-Command.

Love seeing this at ZPH…my parents live in Wesley Chapel. I’m working on my PPC in a 177B. Love to catch up next time I’m in town, maybe catch a flight…hopefully I’ll have my own Cardinal by then

Good one Ted. I was grounded for 4 weeks with man flu (it's a real thing!!). Just came back from some circuits - great to be back in the air again.

Watching this video reminds me of the time an airline once told me that they dont like to hire older pilots because the pilot is set in his ways and wants to do things his way, the airline said they like new young pilots as they can train them to that airlines standards and not have some older know it all pilot do whatever he wants lol lol.

Hey Over 50...over 50 here...doing my ground school at the moment. One thing I think you and I share is corrected vison and needing near site readers? How have you managed that or best solution.??? Obviously need to be able to read instruments and see outside and I see you have them on your forehead. New to the channel but love your perspective.
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
Hey ! Yes … I am constantly flipping them up and down … Look at some of my videos and you can see I usually leave them resting on my forehead and then when I need them I just popped my glasses down so I can see the instruments I’m pretty much the same way I really have a Lotta trouble seeing my iPad but everything else in the cockpit I can see pretty well without my glasses so that’s my best solution for it right now and the headphones actually help keep my glasses up on my forehead. It’s a little odd to have to do that but that’s the best thing I’ve come up with so far. Thanks for watching!

This is where the regs are insane. I had my BFR nearly a year and a half ago. I have barely touched any planes, because the one I bought has been in the shop since Jan of last year (Whole panel upgrade, engine tuning, etc.) Im so far out of proficiency it hurts just thinking about it. But, I'm perfectly legal to go fly right now. No questions asked. The only outcome of this would be me getting my 15 minutes of fame on the news, and my wife getting a tiny insurance policy payout. Completely agree with you that routine "instructor checks" are the most important thing in all of this. When my hangar queen gets close, It'll be numerous flights to get comfortable again before anything else.

LMAO! He should have popped your hand with a ruler when you busted flap range while at the same time saying "Next time do it the way I told you"...lol... Mine is due in September. I need to practice also...

Regarding topic of eyesight correction. I've now got to the point where I use Transitions prescription glasses - where it corrects for both near and far. Is that something you've considered, Ted?

I always look forward to your videos. How do you like flying 150/152s compared to your Cardinal? Fun little controllable planes.
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
They are fun - the 152 is great for playing around and going through your paces - but pretty slow and uncomfortable to go anywhere…. 😎😎😎 thanks for watching!

Hey I was looking into being a pilot I have the initial investment of training but it’s seems people are working at regionals for 5-10 years in bad conditions sleeping at crash pads and not being able to make back the investment or pay off the loan on training. What are your thoughts thanks
@Over50andLearningToFly3 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty much true but it depends on how old you are when you can deal with that and what route you choose. I don’t really know that much about entering into the airlines because I never work for the airlines however it is possible to start in your 40s or even in your 50s and work for the regionals but it also depends on where you get based out of. That’s about all my knowledge do you know Nancy Bradshaw? She could probably answer your questions she’s a great resource. Thanks for watching!
