love to use my first tube screamer with the volume all the way up an the gain all the way down, and the second one with the gain all the way up and the volume at a 5/6. Sounds awesome, the first tube screamer ( the one set clean ) sounds a bit like a blues breaker tipe tone, and its sooooo goooood

Super cool. Trey Anastasio (Phish) has been doing that for a while... he labels his TS808s (some times TS9s) "LESS" and "MORE" and usually uses a ROSS compressor in between them!

I used to do this because of Trey for years. But I switched up to using an OD that’s more amp like and cleans up well with volume knob usage with a klon or TS and it works so well.

Classic Matt Myers from Houndmouth 2 Tube Screamer set-up. Easiest path to great tone. Tube screamers into Fender amps.

Hi! Hope all is well, question, did you hear Cory Wong’s podcast pt1 and 2 with JM? His tone with what may have been his SSS 002 was incredible there, but also I could tell he had a pedal on, cause on a certain part while playing funky he turns off the pedal and you can hear his clean tone, any idea what that pedal was? Maybe the klon as a clean boost?

I know Cory uses a lot of compression, maybe that? Squishing it down and bring the overall level up makes sense to me, by your description.

It really gets you a tad closer to fuzz territory. Not like a big, thick fuzz, but more of an upper mids focused fuzz with those nice overtones that cut through the mix. 👍

I saw John Mayer Solo at Blue Note Tokyo. John used 2nd TS10 for outro of Gravity without a doubt. Everyone who was there(only pedal fan?) was surprised by max drive setting!

Hello, I found your channel yesterday and I’m thoroughly enjoying the content! I’m chasing John Mayer’s tone on Here’s Hopin’ with JP Saxe and I was wondering if that would be accomplished with your $1000 sob rock pedalboard setup?

80s shredders did this all the time. Two TS9s into a cranked Marshall 🤌

I just got a klon clone from aliexpress for 23 bucks and the cool thing is, it has a little less gain at the same setting than my more expensive one and I actually prefer it because you can set it real subtle without the mids taking over too much. Most of the circuit board is SMD but the clipping diodes are actually not. So I think I'll replace those with germanium ones and maybe add a bass knob (it's an Irin Tauren btw, an even cheaper Joyo Tauren;)

if you wanna do something like using two tubescreamers is just use one tubescreamer, adding more gain, and lowering the tone
@kevwes240Ай бұрын
using 2 overdrives stacked is nothing groundbreaking

Nobody is forcing you to watch the video dude. This guy makes lots of videos about all of the different gear that John Mayer has used and stacking 2 tube screamers is definitely pretty unique…

He’s a great player but I don’t love the tones he gets with the double TS setup. Then again, I have always had a love/hate relationship with the sound of that circuit.
