S D Burman never shown any partiality. He used to select singer as per the song. All the songs of films Kala bazar, Kala Pani, Solwan saal, Tere ghar ke saamne, three songs of Guide and some other songs were sung by Rafi sahab. Burman daa also used Manna Dey and Mukesh ji 's voice whenever needed.

rafi sahab was a singing prodigy. he did not learn to sing just due to this classical training. go read his history. also, you can't last for 40 years with just classical training, or just a few genre of songs. you have to be versatile. kk's multiple talents are amazing; i am a huge fan and admirer of his talents. but if you just compare the singing part.... well, there is no comparison, so don't even compare!

i am at awe with kishore-da multiple talents, only one of which is singing. i have enjoyed MANY of his songs, especially on Dev Anand, who was my idol. But if you take singing alone, there is no competition with rafi sahab. when i was a kid i used to be enamored with gaata rahe mera dil (i still love it a lot), but as i grew older, i realized how much more depth is in tere mere sapne ab, and dil dhal jaaye. the sheer variety AND the volume of work of rafi saab puts him beyond comparison. your calling rafi sahab song/mood spoiler exposes your musical ignorance. i wish you growth in this regard.
