I love apple harvest time. We have an area close to our home that we visit. They show the process of making apple cider from the apples picked in the orchards. It’s a beautiful place where they sell fresh apple pies made fresh in the many local restaurants. Your passion shows in your endless energy and enjoyment in doing what you love. @@bluebirdhomestead we will be visiting this wonderful orchard paradise but I am sure I will be purchasing one of there wonderful freshly baked apple pies which always are better than mine. I once canned and cooked when the family was growing up and in the home. Now, at 76 and just the two of us, I’m happy to buy fresh healthy foods from local stores and farmers markets. You are an amazing lady who makes me smile watching all your energy and passion. Enjoy every moment!

Making and canning your own apple sauce is pretty cool. Apple chips look good too. The apple trees my brother picked up are honey crisp and pink lady. They haven’t started producing yet but this was only there second year.

Nothing tastes any better than homemade applesauce! It freezes great too in large ziplock bags . Rinse out bags when finished and use again☺️

If you have a pressure cooker, add peeled and chunked apples, lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon, if desired. Cook 8 min and use immersion blender or potato masher to desired consistency 😊 If you have scrubbed the apple thoroughly, the cores and peels can be used to make apple jelly or apple cider vinegar 😊

I should have saved the cores to make apple cider vinegar!! I completely forgot about that. We go through a lot of apple cider vinegar so that would have been nice. I will have to use the pressure cooker next time! Apple season is almost here :) - Cara

@@bluebirdhomestead turns the sauce pink & has great cinnamon flavor. You have to add it towards the end of cooking to avoid any caramelization on you pans lol

@@bluebirdhomestead I highly recommend it… it’s so good and FAST. I like to buy block cheese and grate it and it makes it so easy. I just cut it in smaller bits and feed it through 🙌🏼 xx Cathi xx 😘

Hi Jasmine! You should try to make some applesauce yourself! Homemade is the best, just apples, water and lemon juice. You don’t have to can it if you just make a small batch 😃

Good job! That peeler/corer is a handy tool to have. My brother has two apple trees in his garden that we get all the apples we want from. I’m currently working my way through recipes to use them . I’m interested in your amaranth project and look forward to hearing how you find it.
