When Life Gives You Lemons, Add Them to Your Apple Cider. Apple Tree Accident.

Apple tree disaster. Overloaded limb comes crashing down. Salvaging the good apples for cider.
It's bound to happen now and then; We lost a huge limb from one of the old growth apples here on the homestead. This tree has been well over 30' tall my entire life and is likely pushing 200 years or more old, from the time of the original homestead out here on our little hill. These apples are delicious for eating and in cider, and I don't want to lose them. Saving the tree will come in the future, but for now I need to salvage the apples from this little accident.

There was a small orchard there at one time. I remember making apple butter, apple jelly and apple sauce one year.

There are still 4 apple trees on the south side of the drive, and a couple behind the house, as well as one pear tree, but I've had to cut several dead ones down that I remember eating from.
