Manu are the messengers of god and there are 14 manus who have come to people as a messenger of vishnu(the creator of universe) found in vedas. The manu discussed in matsya purana was prophet noah. Who built a huge boat of several stories. Gathered animals in pair. And 7 sages along with his family. As far as I know the floods and deluges were a common occurrence millions of years back and not thousands. These scriptures are only thousands of years back. So I think they have not captured what they had experienced but what they thought (or knew) happened millions of years back. "The lifespan of one Manu, is 71 Mahayugas (306,720,000 years), and each Mahayuga is 4,320,000 years. The duration of one manvantara, the lifespan of one Manu, is seventy-one Mahayugas, and each Mahayuga is 4,320,000 years. This makes me wonder how there's a striking similarity in those stories, because it wasn't something the people of the world were experience then but had experienced millions of years back.

In Puranas, the incident of Noah (A .S )has come in detail under the name Manu. But at one place newh in sanskrit Has been given. In the present Hindi translation, he is written as Noah. (Bhavishya Purana Pratisarga Parva Adhyay 4 Shlok 45 to 60) Origin of the word "Noah or Nuh": Nu in Sanskrit means boat and from that the word is derived, which means boatman. Apart from Hazrat Adam (Swayambhuv Manu) and Hazrat Noah Alaihissalam, there have been many other prophets in the Indian peninsula. Dude..it's same. Flood story is mentioned any many civilizations because all civilizations were started from people survived that flood. There are slight variation in story though .
