@nomadonearth Divorce is the last resort when all attempts to keep the marriage fails. Almost no one goes into a marriage with the intention to divorce. However, sometimes it’s healthier for both spouses to part ways or else they remain miserable being together for many more years. My advise to you is try work your marriage if possible. That’s best for the children too. If you have to divorce, please do it amicably for the sake of the children. Don’t deny the other parent the right to coparent with you. It’s very hard initially to emotionally to separate from your spouse even if the marriage was dead for a long time and no love is lost between the two of you. Believe me it will get better as time goes by. And yes I do have child. His father and I do our best to get along and coparent. So far, we are doing a good job. Good luck to you.

I went through a divorce recently.. tried my best to keep the boat going and I'm financially stable paying everything, loving husband never hurt her, taking her to travel vacations every year.. and yet divorce can happen by the silliest things that you can't even imagine.. I never cheated and I don't even smoke or drink, I'm only missing my 3yrs old daughter now it breaks my heart even more because I named her after my mother she passed away 1.5yr ago but alhamdulillah now and always I'm recovering slowly.. make dua for me please🤲

For no fault of mine my husband cheated on me and made me and my son homeless. He took away all our belongings. At that time my mother had passed away and my son was only 2.5 years old. I cried and cried. As Mufti Menk says that was not the end. I use to read Qur'an and ask help with Almighty. Allah knows when what has to be done. Now if I turn back I laugh at myself. So interesting to know he was divorced! I was married very young & am divorced, I do not regret it because I learned many valuable lessons, especially for what I want in a spouse in the future. I am with a wonderful man now that has never been married before though he doesn't judge me for my past. I am thankful everyday for him. This is so uplifting. I've literally been suffering in silence for 2 years because I really wanted to hold on to my marriage and husband who's a blatant narcissist, I didnt want to be a failure and embarrass the family and just having the stigma attached to being a divorced woman. Now, I've been married a little under a year and my now husband is divorcing me because of another woman. No one ever wants to end up divorced, but it happens. How are you doing now? I am going through the same. I thought my life was ruined because I am 24. Allah knows I have been pious my whole life and married a man for his deen. I did everything an obedient wife would do but it didn't work out. However, Allah has a plan for me. Perhaps this was to pull me back to Him. If this was to either wash my sins away, or bring me closer to quran, I will be grateful for His reminder that no one in this world is mine except Him. May Allah forgive us and provide us with righteous partners who are perfect for us.

I take myself for example, I met the lady who understands and completes me by Allaah's mercy, compassion and benevolence. This was after being single and lonely for a long time. I prayed about it, exercised sabr whilst believing in Allaah. I have now been blessed with a young lady (wife to be) this year who has been taylor-made for me and vice versa, glory be to Allaah. Also ask yourself is it that you do not fall sick every 2 weeks like some of our sisters and brothers do throughout majority (if not all) of their life. Let's be grateful to our Maker and have a little bit of sabr in all things. Wa'salaam 🙌🏽☺️

For those of you wondering why a man Masha Allah as clean as Mufti Menk is divorced... litsen to 2 things. 1 Sometimes both spouses are good people but incompatible due to some reason... and they leave with good heart. Take the example of Hazrat Zainab R.A and Hazrat Zaid R.A.... were they bad people... no? But it just didn't work out for them. 2 Sometimes, one spouse is pious but the other one is either not pious or either not exactly someone doing shameful things but too materialistic and too much after the temporary world. As the result, 1 spouse focuses on the deen while the other focuses on the worldly life.... that is like being in a situation of trying to mix oil in water... and it just won't happen. Oil will stay oil, water will stay water.
