Jesse Marsch was hired to a team who's fanbase didn't want him. He had the impossible task of replacing a club legend. And in the end, Jesse Marsch prevailed. This is the story of his time with the New York Red Bulls.

I don’t know how I’ve never seen that Town Hall meeting. Has to be one of the most heated face to face fan/front office interactions ever. Takes some cojones to make Jesse and others sit in front of that

The video is a goldmine within the RBNY crowd. I saw it a couple of years ago, it’s something to watch.

As a die hard RBNY supporter since I can remember (I’m 19) this video perfectly tells the story you were trying to tell. And a lot of supporters will tell you if he never left, we would’ve beaten Atlanta and then won it all in MLS Cup that year. But nothing against Jesse. We will forever be grateful for his time at the club. (Funny how you didn’t mention the playoff game between NYRB and your beloved Fire though😂) Keep up the great content!!

It was such a bummer when he left halfway through the year.... but I understand why he had to do that

Love this. Many people think we’re just here for energy drinks when, we’re the oldest and most passionate fans in mls, even if the group is small. The cup is coming, trophies are coming. We will conquer.

Great work with this video! That town hall footage is incredible stuff. I'm amazed by how long ago that feels in the span of the league's history (eleven new teams have joined the league starting in 2015) though it hasn't even been a decade. I love that you're telling the stories of MLS that happened before the explosion of new fans in that time.

It’s crazy because now we all would love him back. I’m a firm believer if Jesse had not left mid 2018, RBNY would’ve beaten Atlanta. It haunts me and feels like 2018 was the end of a great era that originally all fans hated so much.

I became a season ticket holder in 2015, but wasn’t as invested in the history and importance of Mike Petke. I didn’t even know about Marsch’s horrible record at Montreal. It was a fun ride to witness Jesse coach the heck outta the team, Red Wedding, CCL and mucho trabajo Veron memes! I still believe that Jesse would have won the MLS cup in 2018 if Red Bull didn’t promote him to Salzburg 😢

Can we please get 3 part series about the David Beckham deal that got him a team. The deal itself, the build up to what Inter Miami was supposed to be for the league, and the eventual disaster of a first and second roster builds that lead to what looks to finally be a promising future with Neville at the helm, some good pieces, and the crazy new sports park that will be a beautiful edition to our growing soccer culture in the nation.

15:20, But by the same metric, you could say Sigi Schmidt's time in Seattle was failure and we mostly don't call him that. He never won MLS cup there, but came annoyingly close in 2014 and given Ladeiro, he probably would have in 2016. Then again, se la vie.

Finally someone does a video of the curse. The curse is real, NYRB had the latest goal scored in regulation MLS playoff history against them. They have constant injuries during playoff games take out the goal scorers. It won't be fixed until we do the necessary. Until we drop 1,000 gallons of red bull energy drink in the Hudson river. God I hope it ends soon.

That town hall was awesome !! 😂 And we need another one right about now ( #redbullout ) 😉 Most RBNY fans love Marsch even though he walked out on the club mid season to pursue he's own ambitions & he's hugely over rated, personally I aint got no love for him

Kind of similar when he took over leeds shame didn't end the same way. Think he'd do well at the usmt from a leeds fan was unlucky at leeds that we don't have a striker who can score

About MLS/USSF vs. NASL...people crying over the NASL, thinking the league was the victim of some conspiracy. But in reality, the real victim was the USL. The USL organizes American soccer leagues since the late 80s. They had leagues with traditional teams in the 90s and 00s, being important for the development of soccer in the USA. In the past decade, the NASL was born, and established itself as the second division of American soccer...while the USL was relegated. USL has always been much more transparent and consistent than NASL, today the USL is an example, they get new teams every year... while the NASL is dead. I think NASL vs. USL would be a good video

Watching this and considering things at the time, Jesse Marsch was MLS' golden child in coaching terms. He was with the USMNT, the league office loved him and they advised Montreal to take him on. No wonder Ali Curtis, who was in the league office back then wanted him for this "new direction" they undertook. However, for a guy who has such a "nice guy" reputation, he's awfully selfish.

Hope to see Jesse Marsch as USMNT soon. I like the Berhalter, but after the Reyna scandal, maybe a change is in order. Petke is a great trainer, he also seems like a good person. Hope to see him coach again...maybe with some USL Team.
