They just happened to be transporting a museum piece that would save the Viridian ship? You might have led off with that tidy bit of information when the human ship first entered the equation. Coming in that late in the story shows the author is grasping for solutions to problems just written in. Proofread, edit, mention the Earth ship was transporting pieces of antiquity when they intercepted the distress call, otherwise you come across as grasping and adding details to match the situations that were not thought through. The Endeavor was smaller than Kira expected, small being relative as when it shielded the Viridian ship it was big enough to completely shield it. So if it was smaller than expected, what was expected, a moon sized ship? Another, "let's throw this in to enable the story progression" detail. Having the Endeavor being smaller than the Viridian vessel would add more complications that this author is capable of dealing with. So altruism is an alien concept to the galaxy at large, pity, why seek them out? Apathy is not a valued trait.
