Great explanation, I appreciate when filmmakers point out very important information for, ‘not so experienced’ people. It’s easy to make videos explaining how to do things that 1000 people have already done, maybe adding a little flare of their own to it,( and the general stuff never gets old, as it always gets forgotten!). However the hardest part of setting oneself away from the pack of mediocre filmmakers/videographers, is the things that help someone really grab a client, focusing on the very area they are trying to convey to an audience,( if it’s marketing, or whatever- you get it ). Just thought I’d weigh in with my 2 cents, I’m a 30 yr veteran of infomercials, commercials, made for TV, series, and I’m down to teaching 1 class at the local College. Just thought you might like the feedback. Keep making content, sooner than later, it will be an entire life’s work, trust me! Peace, 1, Lifegiant~

Wow! I really appreciate you taking the time to give me feedback. I will definitley apply it to my work! I am trying to teach things that help people produce the best quality content but what is the point if you cant deliver a good video for a client right? Thanks so much !

@@camicees You make another very good, and HIGHLY OVERLOOKED POINT. One, that may I suggest, you cover and do a tut on. Filmmaking as a Business, I mean a real BUSINESS. Where as an owner you spend 100’s of hrs every month killin yourself, ‘MAYBE’, reconciling the books. Often though just facing the harsh reality, that the first few years, we barely break even. BUSINESS, is your key here, and if someone doesn’t treat it like that, ashrrooom, don’t let the door hit u on the way out. Creatives fall victim to 1 issue more than any other in overcoming Obstacles in the path to success: VANITY. Not so much meting vain in the traditional sense, but thinking they know WHAT AREAS TO FOCUS ON TO SELL A PRODUCT. I am coarse speaking about advertising / marketing, targeted motion capture efforts. I won’t bore you to death, but here’s a great example, I’m on fulltime retainer with over 10 of the largest Auto Dealers in NewEngland; not because I’m the greatest filmmaker, not because I’m able to shoot and drop footage straight “out of the can”, onto their desk ready for tv same day, no none of the Aspects of Quality, Skill, Speed, or even simple over delivering for the price,( the WORST possible mistake one can ever make in this WORLD!). It’s because I HAVE AN ABSOLUTE BULLSEYE UNDERSTANDING of what Customers NEED to get out of an AD, and what the dealer needs to GET OUT of an AD. ***This is where really cocky / probably successful ‘ish’ colleagues will say, ‘oh yeah, I got that on lock down”. They don’t, trust me they do NOT. My journey, included a FAST 10 years in executive Management at both new England’s largest Cadillac, Nissan, Chevy store, as well as finishing my tour of duty, as EVP of World Bank Mortgage, wholesale trade line Risk Analyst. The likely hood of someone getting a decade of 100mph, experience, in that sector, then just walking away to follow a passion, is nearly impossible. My point is, Everything we do Film/photography, IS SELLING. No matter how you package it, flip it, dress it up, overly create, IT IS SALES IN THE END. And so, when shooting commercials let’s say, if you don’t understand exactly how to structure your ad, to drive home a Sale Pitch, inside of all your creativity; EVERYONE may LOVE it, even the Dealer, but if it doesn’t sell cars, you aren’t getting a 2nd call. AND THATS THE REAL POINT; Every client, should be treated as a reoccurring paycheck, who would NEVER THINK OF GOING ELSEWHERE for the services you provide. A. Hitting the Mark,( sell the product, don’t produce gone with the wind, SELL the product. B. Follow up!! The one single most neglected area in our business, is a stupid follow up thank you, ‘AND IF YOU WERE HAPPY, please consider writing 3 names of people you know, I COULD HELP SELL MORE ‘whtvr’. And B. 2- IF FOR ANY REASON I FELL SHORT OF YOUR Expectations, PLEASE LET ME OFFER YOU A DISCOUNT, find out what I missed and fix IT!!!! And never least but last, C. If I did the job you expected, and You are Happy, LET ME FEATURE YOU along with all my satisfied clients, in a short intro I use to demonstrate my services, to NEW CLIENTS. No single thing on this gods green earth, sells better than seeing real happy clients,( of coarse except a happy competitor business, that will seal a deal instantly!!!). Always shoot a short segment, with yourself and the owner, manager, to be able to use just for this purpose, even a STILL. Then stick 8x10’s of all your happy clients in your, “Why buy HERE,( from me ). Book. Just some ideas I think are sadly lacking in the efforts of people today, at least ones that attempt to compete with my clients. Hope it helps, Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, it’s no problem. Thanx. Mike, ‘Lifegiant’~

i shoot at 24 fps at 1/24 shutter speed , (Not double), in low light situations.. lower shutter speeds will increase exposure but, also increase motion blur; may need a tripod or hold steady. high shutter speeds will decrease exposure but, also decrease motion blur; may need to add lights or shoot in day light.

Im thinking about using 1/60 on 60FPS in a cockpit so the propeller gets blurred even more and doesnt block the view

For my music videos i always shot at 50fps 1/100 for a 25fps timeline. So i can do x0.5 slow motion and normal playback. It will look detailed but not so choppy.

What about 60fps and 120 fps when those are slowed down? Should the angle be 360 degree in those situations to keep the blur the same, or similar?
@sd10media3 жыл бұрын
At low light I use 24 fps and 1/25 shutter. Is it good, what do you think?
@camicees3 жыл бұрын
You'll probably get motion blur than you want, but if you're not moving too much it could be fine. You'd want to stick to 1/50 though in most circumstances

if i record a video in a very bright day and i shoot lets say 50 fps ,... how much can i speed up my shutter speed so as not to have sound failure or any other problems? lets say 1/300 or 1-450?? what is the limit?
@camicees2 жыл бұрын
Tbh i wouldnt go past 1/200 as it'll be very jittery slow motion. I would suggest you get an ND filter or you increase your aperture
@quite1enough2 жыл бұрын
breaking shutter rule in action scenes really breaks immersion for me I can't stand it, when almost all Marvel movies use that in some actions scenes I don't remember this kind of stuff in "Children of Men" which has amazing nerve breaking action scenes with 180 rule (if I'm not mistaken) so at this point going higher in frame-rate is sort of a cliché, and if you wanna do that, it should be really thought out
@camicees2 жыл бұрын
I agree tbh especially when there is a moment in the action scene when you can really tell it’s shot at a higher shutter

I see people make more views just making good content. I use to try following but nobody bother watching, so it’s no point
@randysmith64933 жыл бұрын
Now teach people to not over exaggerate the camera movement of cinema verite as see so popular with want to be film makers. Even pro films sometimes over do this. Camera movement to follow action is valid. Camera motion that is just motion without the action of the scene is just plain moronism because it draws your attention to the camera man, and detracts from the on screen talent being filmed. If the subject moves, move with it, not counter to it. A talking head going nowhere with the camera bouncing around is just stupid, and annoying. Nice vid on shutter speed and details , and motion tracking.

That is such a great point that I wish i brought up! I have seen some sport videos where the camera operator would shake the camera uncontrollably for "added effect" but, because it's not motivated, it is too distracting! Thanks for your comment Randy.
