Katherine, I watched a few of your videos. You are down to earth and your explanations are very clear. I think people are not sure they will benefit from using a financial planner. Most people would think they don't have much and getting advice from a financial planner may not benefit them. Ask anyone to give you $1 and you give them $1000 in return. Who won't it? My question is how much money roughly one need to have in super, saving, etc before seriously consider getting a financial planner.

Hi Eddy, I think this is a bit of a complex question, and my answer is not really just a $$$ value, so I think I might take your questions and reply in a from of a new video, so it might be clearer and more comprehensive.

Last time I used a financial planner, they charged me a huge fee for a whole bunch of advice that I ignored. I already had all the relevant insurances in place, the only key advice was to take a $100k margin loan and invest in managed funds...right before the GFC. That $100k would be worth $233k now which isn't a great return over 15 years. I explicitly asked how to make money in a plummeting market as I saw the writing on the wall - they couldn't tell me. I probably fall into the DIY option as I love digging into all the detail of investments and how to work a system.

HI Roger, yes you are probably the DIY type, which is fantastic, because you can charge of your life and all your decisions. It makes no difference how we create our wealth - legitimately of course, as long as we progress. Thank you for watching though 😀

Your adviser always looks at positive side which is a good attitude. Getting margin loan $$ to invest in sharemarket via management is his and management funds benefits regardles. You only enjoy the real benefit when $ appreciated $$ otherwise you work your ass out to pay for the loan regardless. It's your money, Ralph. 😊

Our problem is finding someone whom we can trust who is not straight out of their course and has not yet lived life. I guess it is about trust too. There have been so many dud investments spoken about in the media, it’s scary to think that the person you choose could be feathering their own nest and not really doing what is best for you. We have some understanding and have been independent financially for several years now. We are in our seventies and really need to set things up in a simpler fashion now. I’m a bit over doing all the financial leg work. Our accountant doesn’t really want to help. He is no longer interested in our situation because we are not in business anymore.

I have a very good question. How do I choose a good financial advisor like you?

Most of those videos are 1-2-3 years old. I believe that many Centrelink rules and regulation have changed. So could you please update what has changed. Thanks
