When Opportunities Appear - Dr. Charles Stanley

Do you sometimes feel bored by the Christian life? That isn't what our heavenly Father intends for His children. Our lives, from the moment of salvation until we see Jesus face to face, should be characterized by excitement and adventure. How? Through the invitations the Lord provides to draw closer to Him and to participate with Him in touching the lives of others.
God commands us to be careful in how we live. He instructs us to be wise in our decisions and alert to the opportunities He provides (Eph. 5:15-17). In this sermon, Dr. Stanley looks at seven biblical passages in which men and women had the choice whether or not to respond to the Lord. Through their examples-good and bad-we can learn more about how our lives can be characterized by adventure and promise.

How about a truthful documentary since movies are for entertainment…….beware some documentaries are heading more towards movies than documentary too. He speaks of his childhood in few messages if you listen to enough. 20 years on my way to work Mr Stanley messages helped me love the lord as I suffered abuse thru the work day. Was a beautiful way to give me patience and strength and wisdom to deal with this ole world as people started taking their disappointments out on people who had nothing to do with them. You know what are friends and others for right.

I was depressed. I grew up in a chaotic environment with a family filled with violence and every kind of maliciousness bitterness rage anger and addictions. I am a silent person and what happened was I threw myself in books after the first book to live in an imagined world but one day I thought if I could put my heart the way I put my heart to my mangas to the books I read how great that would be now I am reading the bible like never before after it had collected dust from my neglect.

I have to reply to you because I too immersed myself into every book I could get my hands on to escape from the extremely dysfunctional environment I was raised in. I completely understand you, I went through the same exact things. I'm glad you are still able to hang on to your faith, I was an atheist for most of my life and only recently did I truly became a Christian. Now I'm just trusting God and I have more clarity on the subjects that matter the most to me. Reading the Bible is a must. Sending you much love and praying God blesses you abundantly.

Living by faith through opportunities. I love opportunity and once the Lord brought six different opportunities to me. I prayed , fasted, asked for confirmation, and said, 'Lord, I will. Open the door if you want me to do this. Close the door if I want to do this.' All six opportunities closed. Then God opened the door He wanted me to follow. Be slow to respond to opportunity but RUSH to Jesus Christ for salvation. Always ... TODAY, is the day of salvation! Open Door!

I thank God, that He never gives up on a child of God! I was like that dead, dark forest at one time in my life but Jesus came in and " Revived, Renewed, Refreshed and Restored my life forever! Years ago I asked the Lord, " Is this all it is to life, is that you grow old roll over and die?" The Holy Spirit said to me-- ' you don't have to grow old, you can just roll over and die.' God is AMAZING! I'm listening to this sermon, and a coworker that I've been wanting to talk to about the Lord pops up into my desk. He instantly jokes "forgive me father, for I've sinned. It's been 41 years since my last confession". We have a little chat and I tell him to try the Lord again. It didn't go good or bad, but I'm glad I spoke of the lord either way. Hilda Strangwayes Prayers for your aching spirit dear sister. I pray that you do not allow the enemy to defeat you as you are a beautiful Child of God least wise you would not be led here to listen. That in itself shows that God wants you for His Own to Hear His that you might hear this wonderful man who is wonderfully anointed to teach the Word of Truth. I have been in that very space of deep depression where you are at because I let the enemy overwhelm my thoughts - that is not so hard for the enemy in the world today as it is a broken world. But Jesus already overcame That on the Cross. It was myself who was not focusing on Jesus, His Beautiful Holy Word, God’s Promises, and the GOODNESS- I was not using resources available such as Praise and Worship videos on KZbin or video’s like this one By Dr. Charles Stanley! My face was turned more towards the world... t.v. Shows others were watching, joining in with them instead of my watching independent on my own with my face turned towards God feeding my spirit with Holy Spirit. I ended up in a hospital! This taught me, God showed me Again, that He would Never leave me, nor forsake me, He was right there, when I turned my face back towards Him! Full On, my spirit immediately comforted and healed. Amen and Amen! This is my prayer for you Hilda. In Jesus mighty name that you will overcome the fiery darts of the wicked one that show up as defeating depressing thoughts and allow the Holy Spirit inside of you to wrap you in a blanket of peace and loving comfort to your precious heart ❤️ space through and through your whole being. I pray that every time a negative thought comes in your mind the Holy Spirit speaks loudly and urges you Replace That Now with the Truth which is in fact the opposite ; and is this: and at that point tell yourself the Reality (which will give you time to de-catastrophize) and look at the truth Amen?! Thank you Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to see Hilda’s struggle here today, that I might bear witness to her and share my story with her a bit so she might see that she is not alone in this world with these kinds of feelings, it is so easy to get overwhelmed today in this broken evil world as we know that this earth is run by the synagogue of satan at this time and we wait for your Glorious return. Amen praise God!!! I felt on my heart to preach, I've known I been called to minister. I prayed "lord where do I start? I have little money and will need your spirit." I felt to call this old church down the street. It so happened the owner was in town and we talked. He told me he rents the whole building for $20 an hour. Everything excluded... praise God. God gave me an opportunity to start his ministry with me.

I remember listening to Dr. Stanley when I was just a kid, I'm 44 now. He reminds me of my own father, they both have a calm demeanor and explain complicated concepts in a way that is easily understandable. All praises to The Good Lord, Jesus Christ!!

This preaching is something else. For the last few weeks I have been reading a chapter In the bible and God was speaking to me. I actually thought it's not for me. I'm not qualified, so I shared to someone that I thought God could use. After that I still pray and reread that chapter and very excited about it. Now I'm praying and avail myself for God to use.

This guy is SO wise and educated, I could listen to these videos over and over again one of my favorite. But when he was younger I don’t like those vids as much because he just had so much anger against touchy topics such as abortion, which, is what baptists do.. he seems like anger driven, loud like many baptist preachers when he was younger but now he seems much more chill and wise. Perfect amount of passion in his voice as well.
