Because he felt like a slave to the Jedi. They called him the chosen one yet they held him back and disrespected him by not promoting him to master. Then they expected him to spy on the one person that actually seemed to respect him and was a father figure to him. He was never free to be his own person his entire life.

The most interesting thing about this story is the actual lesson Palpatine wanted to teach Vader. Everything was fine for this governor until he went on a power trip and began to disobey imperial policies and endanger his own men and precious empire resources just to test his new "toy" (Vader). By doing so, he himself became the actual "greatest threat" Vader could find. And Vader was even able to get around the fact that he could not disobey the governor, by having the crab do the dirty work for him. This video doesn't show it, but as Vader stands in place with his "lesson learned", Palpatine senses everything that happened and is extremely satisfied with Vader at the end. The lesson itself: those who go against the Emperor's orders will face consequences. For Vader, it was the humiliation of having to serve a lowly governor. For the governor... the story speaks for itself.

This is why I admire Palpatine, one of the greatest intellectual titans to ever be created. Every aspect about him is interesting and it I ask myself. Did palpating create Anakin specifically on tattooine knowing he’d be born into a slave family so that it would already ignite the Darkside within him creating rage in the shadows of a young boy. At the time Anakin was innocent but definitely already held rage for the mistreatment of his mother and himself. If this is true which I’m sure it is, that just adds another layer to his master plan. I want a Plaguis movie, we need a rated R super dark Plaguis movie. The Sith are way more interesting and in my opinion hold a way stronger connection then most Jedi because in aspects they use just the force but focus more on it’s dark areas.

I think Vader meant the governor was HIS greatest threat at that moment... not the asteroid, the crab was a bigger threat than the asteroid. Vader took out the asteroid it was hiding in so it would be pissed off and run into the star destroyer, the destroyer can maneuver around the asteroid better than it can the crab because it can go where it wants to, honestly I was expecting Vader to force choke him waaaayyyyy before that happened.. waaayyy before... then I was expecting Vader to do something while in the asteroid belt to take out the entire star destroyer or the bridge where the governor was.. I knew something was about to happen, I mean you can see it coming, the story set it up as He ordered Vader to destroy the greatest threats.. which at that time the governor was the greatest threat to Vader
