Yep. I grew up watching Parkinson and loving his interviews (the 2nd incarnation of his show, from the late 90s onwards). But upon reassessment now that I'm approaching 40, I realise that he was very blinkered, and arrogant at times.
@wendigo19192 ай бұрын
Agreed. Ouch. Denzel definitely handled it well. How on earth did he become a Black, Alcoholic so and so negative actor. Wth? Completely negative towards Denzel expect at the very end only because Denzel gave him some of his wit. Denzel was picking up what the interviewer was putting down and was having none of it. Disrespect and arrogance, all right. What an uppity Brit.

@ Try and think of a good one…my fave. In The Hurricane, when his lawyer comes and he’s saying ‘19 years I’ve been locked up’ The way Denzel transforms in that scene is incredible, he goes from watching the lawyer though the glass, to looking straight through him like there’s nobody there. So for clarity, Denzel has since admitted that he was / is an alcoholic… and we now know that Mike was a functional alcoholic for 30 years before he died. Like Denzel, he was sober when preparing and working but would then drink heavily on days, weeks, months off, Denzel attempting to limit himself to two bottles of wine… a day. I think Mike here was trying to give Denzel an opportunity to clear his heart… I don’t think he was trying to out him or embarrass him. He was offering him his hand - they were both under the same millstone.

So he read things about Denzel that wasn’t true, yet he asked him on air without even his approval. What kinda of journalist is this guy. So many things are written about celebrities that aren’t true. That’s why you should always ask the person your interviewing about what to ask or not. Especially when it deals with their “past”. Things can get fabricated.
